John Lynch draft

Here is what I envision John Lynch doing based on his draft history and tendencies. I don't have any trades but I guarantee lynch will trade… up and not down for more picks like most of us would like. They have shown they target guys and jump up because they are afraid of losing a pick even if we all collectively ask why.

  • Round 1 - Pick 11 - Derek Harmon dt. This is a tendency and showing your hand pick. Most teams hide their interest or dealings but lynch doesn't. He wants to recreate the defensive line like when we had armstead and Buckner and this is his hope to get a player in that mold to disrupt the pocket. Harmon will flash and struggle his first year but when he does blow up the pocket the team will think it is worth the risk.
  • Round 2- Pick 43 - Landon Jackson de. this is where Niners go for a good helmet guy like they always do while forcing a need. Lynch liked upside and character. This guy has improved since his raw start to college football while shoo n raw athleticism and faced adversity.
  • Round 3 - Pick 75 - Wyatt Milum OT - one thing this team has shown is that the 3rd round is the what the heck area for the Niners. They always seem to draft a player too high, one that nobody sees coming or one that doesn't seem to match what analysts are saying. Here is the first of those picks. Lynch sees him as our swing tackle while hoping for more.
  • Round 3 - Pick 100 (special compensatory pick) - Mitchell Evans te. See above for 3rd round picks. The webzone sees more talent on the board but lynch believes this guy will be a better pro than college player and has a good enough floor with blocking skills.
  • Round 4 - Pick 113 - Nick Martin lb - they really don't have a 4th round tendency because not a lot of history there. They mostly go for small schools or athletic traits here. So they take Martin for his traits and lynch already showing interest and his hand.
  • Round 4 - Pick 138 (compensatory pick) - Jaydon blue rb. Again going for athletic traits over production and their random rb strategy they seem to employ most drafts.
  • Round 5 - Pick 147 (from Saints through Commanders) - Jordan Watkins wr. This is the money round so a lot of pressure. This is where the team finds lesser talked about picks that produce. Hope is Watkins is a better pro than in college. This guy is compact and breaks tackles and hard to take down on first hit and tough. Will be used like deebo on some plays. No one can replicate deebo so not saying he will be the next deebo.
  • Round 5 - Pick 160 (from Vikings) - kitan Crawford safety. Small school with impressive athleticism. This is all on the coaches to develop.
  • Round 7 - Pick 227 - Howard cross III dt - this is where the Niners usually draft productive players that don't have ideal measurables or times. That is where cross would fit.
  • Round 7 - Pick 249 (compensatory pick) - Mello Dotson cb. Timed speed will scare everyone away but Niners give him a chance on his 4 years of starting experience. They hope he is like their Juann Jennings pick but on defense.
  • Round 7 - Pick 252 (compensatory pick) Thor Griffith dt. This is where they pick potential udfas they want to lock in.

there you go. This is the typical lynch draft. We pass over several draft crushes, make a couple of reasonable picks and then the rest fans are arguing and hoping naysayers are wrong.
Pitchforks will be out if this is the "plan".

Decimating the roster because we're rebuilding yet every pick, aside from maybe Milum and the 7th rounders, are reaches. It makes no use out of picking at 11, be it bpa/high ceiling or trading down to pick up capital and easily still get a Harmon.

Nothing against you, I just hope this regime has turned a corner after an awful season, awful drafting, a massive exodus and an anemic free agency hamstrung by the bed they made.

If not, their days are numbered.

There are usually pitchforks out so why I'm trying to be reasonable here and read Lynch's mind and find patterns in their draft history. Anyone guess pearsall would be our first pick? Did anyone have moody or latu in the 3rd? Hufanga in the 5th?
Harmon sucks against the run, I would be pissed. Especially if Nolen or Graham are still sitting there.

Is that your opinion or what you read? From what I see he disrupts the pocket and rush lanes. Personally, watching him I feel more like he loses sight of the ball too frequently but doesn't necessarily suck against the run. Experience and coaching could help clean that up.

He most definitely does not "suck vs the run"

"He plays like a Raven or a Steeler. Off the tape, he reminds me of a young Cam Heyward but bigger." -- NFC executive

"The lightbulb didn't just come on – it exploded. Beyond the counting stats, Harmon's 39 quarterback hurries tell the story of a defender who lived in opposing backfields. His combination of first-step quickness and raw power had offensive coordinators adjusting protection schemes and quarterbacks seeing ghosts."

"What makes Harmon's emergence even more impressive is how he dominated despite facing constant double teams in the run game. The Detroit native proved equally adept at penetrating gaps as a pass rusher and anchoring against combo blocks, showcasing the scheme versatility pro teams covet. His performance against Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinal – consistently winning one-on-one matchups against future NFL linemen – solidified his status as a top-50 prospect."

"The film shows Harmon thriving as a 3-technique in an attacking front where he can fire off the ball and use his explosive first step. When teams tried running zone schemes his way, he frequently disrupted the mesh point by getting vertical, though his occasional over-aggression led to some cutback lanes. The Browns, Ravens, and Jets – teams that emphasize penetrating interior defenders while having the defensive structure to cover for some rawness – would maximize his strengths early while developing his consistency. His snap-to-snap intensity still wavers at times, but the flashes are impossible to ignore."

That is mostly what I saw while watching him. Maybe not the best holding the point and being over aggressive but he disrupted and ruined plenty of run plays.
I got 2/11 playing lynch. Anyone else call Watkins?
