Singletary Says Nate Davis Has Dyslexia
Posted by Mike Florio on April 26, 2009, 4:49 p.m. EDT
In an interview with NFL Network, 49ers coach Mike Singletary confirmed one of the worst-kept secrets in the pre-draft process.
Singletary said that Ball State quarterback Nate Davis, picked by the 49ers in round five, has a learning disability.
Specifically, according to Singletary, Davis has dyslexia.
“It’s just one of those things where we know that we can deal with that,” Singletary said.
Davis at one point was considered as a guy who might not be drafted, after generating a lot of buzz during the 2008 college football season.
I didn't know this. How hard do you think this will make it for him?

Frank Gore has dyslexia. That seemed to have worked out.
This kid will sit for 1 or 2 years. We'll be able to evaluate him in that time. If he doesn't cut it...no big deal, it was a late 5th. Very little risk...huge reward.

I heard he is pretty smart. The only downside on him is his height. I read once Joe Montana has Dyslexia. I don't know if that's true but if it did it shouldn't matter.

One is a RB one is a QB. HUGE difference. But you're right about the low risk high reward thing.

That shouldn't really be a problem. Davis said that he has no problems learning playbooks.

I could of sworn Singletary in his interview today on NFLN said he was dyslexic.
I graduated high school with Nate and he does NOT have dyslexia...I've known him for a long time...by the way Nate is very very very football smart he will have no trouble learning the playbook..

He made a good choice playing professional sports and highlighting his strengths instead of say becoming an English teacher.

Unless he thinks the slot reciver to the left in a four wide set is supposed to run a post when it is really the slot recivr to the right.

Just show him all the plays backwards. He'll get it.
