I'm sure they said that about the young NFL and AAFL too.

Just in case anyone is interested Orlando has the rights to Mike Vick.
Mike Vick once a $100 million dollar man, will now be playing for $35,000 if he signs.
I doubt that they would pay him that little

I wish the San Francisco team would go after some of the high profile qb's still available (ie. Rex Grossman, JP Losman, Mike Vick, Quinn Gray, Tim Rattay). Also don't be surprised to see Grham Harrel joining once the NFL season starts (and he's not on any roster).

That's the pay rate for UFL players, some are higher but not that much more.

No that was David Ball, Kirkus was a white wide receiver who played for the cardinals I believe for a few years.

Looks like he could make $600K+. But I have a hard believing a startup league like the UFL could really afford that.

You know at the UFL forums, I actually argued that Vick would make more based on who he is. But others insisted that he would only make that much so I pretty much stood by $35,000.

Yeah, I have no idea what to think, honestly.
I mean (if signed) the guy will put cheeks in seats. Ppl will come to watch him and ESPN, etc will report how well he plays - most likely obsessing over every good or bad throw. That will create some buzz for the new league. I can see somebody paying him more based on that stuff.
But then again, if Goddell drops the hammer and gives Vick no choice but to play outside the NFL next year (or its possible no team will even show much interest in signing him), than he won't have much bargaining power. He could also attract equal amounts of negative publicity from groups like PETA, etc.
Anyone know what the NFL's Vet min contract for Vick would be? I think that's what he'd get in the NFL, but I could see him signing in the UFL for less than that just for the chance to play.
