Who can address our need at Right Tackle?

If Carolina keeps this up, we may be looking at Trent Williams

Trent Williams is horrible at LT this year. He will not be a top 10 pick imo.

This year, he has been horrible. Last year playing RT opposite Phil Loadholt, he was fantastic. Sam Bradford never got hit last year and Williams was a big part of that.

With the lack of OT talent coming out I think he might be. Williams (RT), Okung (LT), and perhaps Bulaga, will likely be the only 1st rounders, and we've seen recently how these guys get overdrafted due to their importance.

Maybe so (although I still think he's going to slip out of the top 10) but that still doesn't mean we should draft him in the top 10 which is what you were insinuating.

More like "might" not "should." Just think Singletary would love the big Tackle built to play on the right side
So who are the best, top 3 tackles that would be able to step in & be our right tackle?
We can clone Joe Staley.
Right tackle is needed unless Pashos finds his grove, but the guards are playing terrible what does this years class for guards look like?

Luckily he was excellent at RT last year - which is where he will be playing for us...

Sign a reliable FA to play RT. No more high draft choices on the O-Line in the short term, a 1st, 2 2nds and a 3rd is enough. A reliable FA is what the line needs, I would've loved Stacey Andrews this year.

We have tried it the FA route as well. Twice, this year. If you want the O to work then you have to make the line work. And if that means throwing early picks at it until it does, so be it.

Good OTs are hard to find
any1 know the top run blocking maulers in this draft?
What about Bryan Bulaga from Iowa?? The guy is a beast on the LT side right now and does a terrific job in the running game. I would love if we could snag him this year if he comes out.

I think it's looking like OLB (again), OL (again), S (again), and QB are our big needs in the draft this year.

Marvel Smith was an injury risk to begin with. Pashos was a last minute attempt to address the problem.

Getting a Trueblood type RT in FA should be the priority.
It is looking like we need to address OG more than OT at this point.
Let me lay out some names (aside from Trent Williams) of road-grading RT's for you:

Top tier, Day One Talent:
Bryan Bulaga, Iowa * JR
Anthony Davis, Rutgers * JR
Ciron Black, LSU
Jason Fox, Miami

Middle tier, Early-Mid Day Two Talent:
Sam Young, Notre Dame
Kyle Calloway, Iowa
Chris Scott (Can play all five OL positions), Tennessee

Bottom tier, Late Day Two and Developmental Talent:
Rodger Saffold, Indiana
Drew Davis, Alabama
Will Barker, Virginia

IYHO OTC, who would you rather have with that second first rounder? Bulaga, Davis, or Lupati (Will he jump that hi out of the second)? It just seems like Lupati's equal is not found anywhere...top of the crop of Gs whereas we have options at ROT in the second and third.

I guess what I am asking is that the level of talent really diminishes after Lupati. The same with the safeties Berry and Mays who are top 10 talents. Therefore, I would love to see us go like this:

Top 10 pick: Mays, FS/SS (I just think Berry will be pick top five for sure) starts from day 1
Top 20 -25 pick: Lupati There just isn't a G as good.
2nd: Best DE/OLB like Hughes, Lang, and others very deep!
3rd: S. Young ROT
4th: P. Taylor NT

Of course, there's a lot more college ball, Senior bowl, combine, la la la la la...

Still, I love the idea of grabbing one of those two safeties! If not, I really could see us trade back because you know someone like the Jets is going to jump up for one of the top QBs, DTs and/or OTs. That would give us more picks in a very rich talented draft especially at DE/OLB and ROT.

What would your ideal first three picks be, OTC...just curious?

Thanks man!

PS I didn't even go QB because of Nate Davis, your boy from last year. I just think they found a gem with him in the fifth and will continue to mold him behind both Smith and Hill. I see Smith and Davis competing next year for the starting job and Hill becoming a backup again.
