You honestly think the problem is at QB? If we had a decent O-line, I think we'll be much better off with Hill at QB!

Not feeling it.......I like the first pick. I know that guard is the best in the country, but I wouldn't take a guard until the 3rd at the earliest. As for the second round pick, I understand the logic in a KR, but I feel that they have to get a qb with the first 3 picks. I don't think qb is the major obstacle but having that qb of the future locked up would surely help especially down the line. Like the free agent signings especially Neal, not that big a fan of the Merriman signing as he's washed up. Also Washington is an unrealistic proposition, he's gonna want a nice chunk of change and despite Coffee's struggles they still have high hopes for him.

I sincerely hope we do get Leon Washington. We need a 3rd down back (save wear and tear on Gore) and an elite return man. Hopefully the Jimmy Raye connection counts for something (he coached Jets RBs for a few years before we got him).

Just to elaborate a bit:
I know it doesn't make sense to draft an OG in the first round, and sign Neal - but legit competition at these positions will ensure success and strong play from the O-line. A draft focused early on O-line can help us develop one of the best lines in the league.
Jacoby Ford's pick is to add that Percy Harvin type WR/RB on our team. Let's face it: our offense lacks speed. We can't stretch the field worth s**t. If a TE is the fastest player on your offense, you're f**ked. Ford could develop into that #3 slot type WR, and will push Morgan and Hill for playing time as I expect Brandon Jones and Michael Crabtree to lock down the #1 and #2 WR positions.
I can see the opposition in the Merriman signing, but if he can be had for relatively cheap to push Lawson, I'd think we'd be stupid to not try and get him. Unless you enjoy seeing Ahmed Brooks splitting time with Lawson...

Merriman would start over Haralson not Lawson. Lawson is playing great football and is a better overall linebacker.
We need a QB and a RT and a LG and FS....With having spent so much in FA the past few years and with some our own draft picks to be resigned coming up I don't think we make a huge splash in FA.
I see one big signing maybe, and that would be FS in O.J. Atogwe. I want him and Logan Mankins or Daryn Colledge, but he would be the one to be addressed in FA.
Aubrayo Franklin and Dre Bly get resigned. Terrell Brown and Patrick Willis get extensions, and possibly Manny Lawson too.
Draft.
1a. Best QB that fits for us, whether its Bradford, McCoy, or Clausen. Because Shaun Hill has the worst arm I have ever seen, unless they are serious about Nate Davis IDK but this should be the choice, we need a Franchise QB, Hopefully we find ours!
1b. Best RT available. Yea Snyder or Pashos? None thanks, Ill take Sam Young from ND or Anthony Davis from Rutgers!
2. Best LG available, hopefully Mike Luapti, the dude is 6'5 330 and has great feet yea him and Staley on one side and a big RT on the other and hopefully Chilo gets it together and we got ourselves a line!
3. NT, Backsup and learns from Aubrayo.
4. CB...Hopefully get a steal here and can start lol.
5. RB...After losing Kory Sheets I am utterly sick to my stomach, and I hope we can find another RB like him at this point in 2010 and we forget about Sheets...and Beside how much does Gore really have left? do you really think that Coffee can handle it? IDK.
6. 3-4 DE Never hurts to have depth on the line!
7. CB I added a 2nd corner because Walt is done, Shawntae probably soon and with Dre Bly only hear for another year it makes sense to get 2 young corners to go with Nate and Terrell.

I don't think Clausen will declare this year.
But if he does, and we draft him...I'll probably kill myself.

I don't want to get into it here and hijack, but next year I'd hope we have better options at QB. I don't think Hill is more than a 1 year answer, the rest of the season might change my mind we'll see.

I agree that Hill is not the long-term solution to our QB problems. And I don't think Smith and Davis are viable options at QB either.
But do you want to insert a rookie QB behind a poor O-line and an offense that's molded around a possession type team?
I rather fix the leaks before plugging someone in there.

I love the Merriman signing and drafting Rolle.
I'm not really sold on Trent Williams or drafting offensive linemen with high first round picks in general.
Especially since the Carolina pick could be a top 8 pick. I'd rather draft an impact player like Berry or Mays.

If we draft a QB next year, what was the point of Drafting Nate Davis that would jsut be a wasted pick in my opinion

That's exactly what I was thinking. He played very well in preseason under center after spending the majority of his college career in the shotgun. Give him a chance.

yeah he did play pretty well in the preseason and i have to admit that when we picked him i wasnt happy about it, but i would hate for us to have wasted that pick, I dont think we should give him a chance this year but for sure next year
