Golden Tate or Michael Floyd: Better prospect?

Golden Tate or Michael Floyd: Better prospect?

I like Tate. I think he's more versatile. He could play any receiver position and could even be taught to run the Wildcat.

He already runs the wildcat in Charlie Weis' offense. Both he and Armando Allen have taken the snaps there, he has played both the Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams role in it. He has also lined up as a RB (he was a HS RB) and can return punts and kicks (he returned a punt last weekend vs Pitt for 80 some yards) .

Tate will be eligible to enter as a junior this year, Floyd is still a sophomore. Tate could come in from day 1 and be installed in the wildcat and on return duties and be used in multiple WR sets to help stretch defenses and eventually push Morgan/Hill/Jones for the #2 WR spot.
If Tate declares we best be drafting his playmaking ass.

Should be interesting to see how high his stock can go. He should run a good 40 and has proven on the field that he can flat out play and is very versatile. With the WR class being far from great he could be the 2nd WR off the board when it's all said and done IMHO.

He that good? (OT, OG, OLB, S, CB, backup rb, kick return). Just asking.

Well, that will be handy. Wasn't quite where I was driving, though

Right now that's probably where his stock sits. 2nd rounder.

Tate and Crabtree

What a sick combo that would be.

Well, in view of our various needs and desires, I guess it is pretty unlikely

He fills the void at returner and has lined up at RB (he was also a HS RB). So he can be used there from time to time. Can stretch the field vertically (something else we lack) & be used in the wildcat. Would give Jones, Morgan and Hill legit competition for the #2 job.

Not all our needs will be addressed via the draft, some will come via FA. Backup RB is not going to be high on our priority list if Scot & Sing have their way. I'd guess they may look to add a RB via the 2nd day (one with speed and possibly someone who can be used as a returner as well) unless Spiller or Best are sitting on the board as the clear cut BPA. Tate would likely not be high on our list either but his versatility will likely give Scot a hard on.
