Which QB do the Niners pursue in the 2010 draft?

In 34 attempts this is the first time Alex looked like a potential starting QB. I'm giving Alex the season to see how well he can do, but I'm certainly not crowning him for next year because of one 240 yard game.

Exactly how I feel. I still want to draft a QB to challenge both Smith and Nate Davis.

Since we have a more serious need on the offensive line and pass rush early, which of the following 2nd tier QB's would you like the Niners to take:
Dan LeFevour Central Michigan
Tony Pike Cincinnati
Jevan Snead Ole Miss
Case Keenum Houston
Zac Robinson OK State
I think that LeFevour would be a good developmental QB in the middle rounds. Your thoughts........
From the list I'll take Pike, however Colt McCoy would b my choice overall.

^from the above list I think we can get Jevan Sneed can be had in the 2nd/3rd round.

Zac Robinson and Snead are not good QBs, I've seen them play a lot, and they just aren't.
I'm not a Colt McCoy fan, but he is head and shoulders better than those guys.

Given the options coming out this year, I'll stick with Alex Smith as the starter in 2010 and Nate Davis as his back up, then grab someone to develop in the 6th/7th.

I would be real surprised if Smith is not in the plans for next year . He has a real freindly cap number for a starting qb and has showed enough to get one more year. Unless he totally falls apart, then they move in another direction. They may draft a qb or possibly think nate is the guy. Ether way I think Smith will still start next year with some youth and possibly Hill under him.

No need to worry. After the train wreck of a season he had this year, he's going back to Ole Miss for one more year of work, cap or no cap.

Despite the picks, Pike has looked really good today... The WRs have dropped a TON of balls.

I am a big pike fan. I would like to see the niners pick up one of htese qb's by the third round.
The only guy I don't like is snead. I know he has a good arm but I have seen some horrible games by snead this year.

Depending on where he's projected to go, I wouldn't mind taking a shot on Bill Stull.

Gimme Tim Hiller in the 4th or 5th round or where ever the Combine helps him project. I'm guessing he'll have a pretty decent Combine so I'll say Hiller in the 4th.

Agreed. Nate has shown enough to warrant more development. He may even supplant Smith sooner than later. Given that...why draft a QB from a shallow QB draft class when you have one of equal ability on the roster already? (Nate). None of the QB's this year have much more than what Nate already has, and certainly not as much as Smith has. Of course, it would be a different story if we were looking at having a shot at a Peyton/Elway caliber prospect in the draft...but we are not....there are none.

None. The team is not going to draft a QB.
