Anthony Davis vs. South Florida

Davis is a big-time OT prospect and hyped as a potential first-round pick. What I saw of him against USF did nothing to change that assessment in my opinion. He's has legit NFL OT-size at least 6'5 and 320ish. Looked at him closely as he was matched up against George Selvie most of the time. He did an excellent job on Selvie in pass protection, mirroring and using his size on Selvie who couldnt get anywhere near the QB. Late in the second quarter, USF flipped their DEs putting Selvie on the RT and their stud DE prospect Jason Pierre-Paul on Davis' side. This was one of only two times where Davis looked beaten while pass protecting. First Pierre-Paul put a speed rush on Davis, then made a great inside counter movie which led Pierre-Paul to batting a pass back to the QB. Davis on one other play got too upright while pass protecting and a DB blitzing was able to shove Davis back a few yards.

Davis is able to utilize his good strength while run blocking if he's able to get his hands on you. I saw on more than a few occasions when he was able to engulf linebackers and pin the DT inside on running plays. Davis struggled a bit when he had to pull and hit a moving target and wasn't able to get in front and use his hands to control the defensive player.

Positives- Great size. Strong hands to control defenders. Good, quick feet. Powerful run blocker if he is able to engage with his hands.

Negatives- May be vulnerable to a pass rusher with a good inside counter move. Must keep knees bent in pass protection.

Summary- Legitimate NFL LT prospect and should be a first round pick.
Great to hear. He would be good on the right side by Rachal.
I do not feel at all that Davis can be an LT. Right tackle might be his spot.

Davis struggles mightily against speed-rushers, and he's just not good in space. His kick slide looked a little awkward out there. Not only does he have trouble making blocks on moving targets, he also struggles to sustain the blocks he does get for very long.

His run blocking is good, and he fires quickly off the snap, but I really worry about Davis' ability to do anything when it comes to screens or facing bigger and faster pass-rushers. Selvie has been very unimpressive lately, so Davis' success against him doesn't surprise me. Selvie is easily engulfed by bigger tackles.
Anthony Davis or Jason Fox in the 2nd round

Yea...good luck getting Davis in the 2nd round.

If we could land him in the 2nd round I would be doing backflips cuz we could draft a stad pass rusher and BPA in the first.

When looking at the other OTs in the big board, Bulaga, Trent Williams, Bruce Campbell, Charlie Brown are moving way up. Anthony Davis has showed problems against the speed rush. But then again, anything can happen from now until the draft.

I want a RT in either the draft or free agency!

The more RT talent the better! I have Davis as the 4th guy but expect the top 3 Okung, Bulaga and Williams to go to top 15.

Just look at the run on tackles in recent years.
Rutgers student here that watches Davis a lot.

Good prospect, a tad inconsistent at times. Seems like more of a LT to me than a RT.

If he comes out (which I expect to), I'd say late 1st round pick.

Thank you. That is an accurate assessment. I'm telling you, fellas, Davis can have good pop sometimes, but if you watch him enough you will see those inconsistencies.
