Good job MD. I know ppl have posted similar picks for the niners, but always enjoy your input.

Quick question, if the Broncos do skip on McClain, what chances do we have on selecting him? I know it's not a need, but he could possibly be a younger and faster version of Spikes. With him in the middle, could let Willis move more freely, just like how Bart Scott did for Ray Lewis.

I just have a hard time seeing Denver letting him get past, especially with their developing defense, but do like the out-of-nowhere pick you have them for. Overall, if this is how it goes down for us, I wouldn't have a problem. I liked Haden since last year, and Williams will be a future highly touted RT.

that's what I've been thinking of lately. I personally would not mind Joe Hayden with 1A and the BLACK John McClain with 1B. "Yippee ki-yay, motherfcukers!"

Um, you do know his first name is Ronaldo right?

I think you maybe projecting a little bit on the McCain fantasy, but I'd love to pick up Haden and McClain to sure up our defense (if we can snag OL in FA).
Now thats what I'm talkin about !

Damn the futbol fan in me! lol, good call
Why our db's suck:

05 draft -- Derrick Johnson (6th rd); Daven Holly (7th)
06 draft -- Marcus Hudson (6th), Vickiel Vaughn (7th)
07 draft -- Dashon Goldson (4th), Terrell Brown (5th)
08 draft -- Reggie Smith (3d)
09 draft -- Curtis Taylor (7th)

No CB drafted higher than 5th. No S a factor except Goldson.

Draft Berry if he somehow falls through, otherwise Haden. Right after the OT.

I like your picks for us, especialy Haden, but I am interested in Rolando McClain more than OT in the first.

T. Spikes is reaching the end of the line and we will need a similar stud next to Patrick Willis.

If the best player available is McClain we should take him.

Finally some sense. Our secondary will not be improved with a safety alone. It requires a overhaul. The importance of upgrading this cannot be overlooked as a more talented secondary will increase the coverage sacks we have accumulated.
Two comments...

1. If Clausen somehow falls, we HAVE to take him. The guy is the most NFL-ready QB in years and has a perfect arm and makes good decisions. Its good that you have him as the first guy QB taken, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes #1 to the Rams. In his 3 seasons, the guy had a QB rating of 104, 132, and 161! 68% with 28/4 TD/INT ratio this season. We will never be true contenders with Mr. Rollright Smith unless we have a lot of talent everywhere else.

Clausen would be the man of the future for the franchise, with Smith as a good backup. My only concern is he seems to be somewhat... different. Clausen Hair Tips

2. I really have no idea if T.Williams is a good player, but if he is a good-quality starting tackle for many years to come it would be a nice pick. It would need to be zero bust potential; no more failed high round OL. In my opinion, CJSpiller just jumps out as an obviously talented player in a position of big need. I would think he has very low bust potential. Now, he has been hurt all season which could be a problem, and he isn't a real burner (not even fastest guy on team) but he could help out a lot. I would be happy with your draft though if you have confidence .

100% agree.
7 of our picks should be:
1st round -> Joe Haden/Eric Berry & Best OT
Next rounds: Depending on first round a CB or FS should be the 2nd round pick. Then BPA from pass-rushing DE & OLB, OG, 3rd-down RB with KR/PR skills.

Also, I think we should to get another BPA for a need such as OLB/DE/OG/RB/KRPR by packaging picks and moving up into the 2nd round again or into the 3rd. It is time to stop picking garbage late-rounders and hope they're gems. We need to be aggressive, make moves, and get players that will contribute!! I'm sick of us just sitting back and doing nothing on draft day. Grow some balls, Scot!!

no knock on MD but this same senerio has been projected by most everybodies mock I've seen as to what the 49ers would do. just Hayden with the 1A and T. Williams with 1B.

What I meant by what I wrote was that I've seen to many mocks with us taking either, Tate, Clausen, Bradford, Spiller or Bryant.

It would fill our two biggest needs. I'm all for it.

anyone know if/when Haden decides to declare for the draft?
That's a very reasonable, sound mock draft, and fits us well.

But I think Bradford and Spiller would make this a championship team if we paired them with a really good RT in the 2nd or 3rd round.

This is a REALLY agonizing draft for me, because Smith still seems to have something going on, and Nate Davis has immense talent, but I LOVE Bradford, and we have the ammunition to get him if we wanted to.

I have never seen a prettier pass thrown, then perhaps none other than Tom Brady.
