This is my first attempt to mock the draft with just the non-playoff teams.
1 StL N. Suh, DT—Best prospect in years! Just too good to pass up.
2 Det A. Davis, OT—The Jason Smith of this class, seriously!
3 TB G. McCoy, DT—Tuff one here. It will be he or Berry.
4 Was S. Bradford, QB—Shanny takes his QB for the WCO.
5 KC E. Berry, S—Frickin’ lucky as other needs prevailed over BPA and dropped.
6 Sea J. Clausen, QB—They can get a franchise QB to succeed Matt.
7 Cle J. Haden, CB—Perfect for their horrible pass D.
8 Oak D. Morgan, DE—Time for an upgrade at pass rusher.
9 Buf R. Okung, OT—They count their lucky stars.
10 Den R. McClain, ILB—Perfect fit for Nolan’s 3-4, his new P-Willy
10 Jax C. Dunlop, DE—Rises back to top after combine and stays in Florida
12 Mia J. Pierre-Paul, DE—Either a DT or Pass rusher. They go with the latter.
13 SF T. Williams, OT—Count our lucky stars as we land one of the top 3 OTs.
14 Sea B. Campbell, OT—A franchise LT and a QB in one draft, damn!
15 NYG D. Williams, DT—Need some beef on that DL.
16F SF CJ Spiller, RB/RS—It was he or Dez at BPA. Need more explosive toys!
16F Ten D. Bryant, WR/RS—They now land that WR that can make a difference.
18 Pit E. Thomas, S—Shore up their secondary.
19 Atl B. Bulaga, OT—Another OT to protect Ryan
20 Hou T. Mays, S--Need help in the secondary.
This was a tuff mock to build. Det, Cle, Oak, and Jax are hard to pinpoint. I believe that it will play out somewhat like this. Also, I didn't include a possible prospect in Ryan Mallett, the redshirt soph from Arkansas. He could drive another top 10 player towards us from what I have been reading. Is he really a top 10 pick?
My true question marks are:
A Davis to Det--too high for the OT, I think not.
J Haden to Cle--could they go OT, DE or CB?
C Dunlop to Jax--Florida pass rusher with unlimited upside instead of Tebow, LOL
B. Bulaga to Atl--Do they need another top OT? Seems like they do.
CJ Spiller to SF--Really? Who else? E. Thomas? Hughes? Bryant? or Iupati?
However, I personally love the idea of having Iupati compete with Baas for LG starter. This way our OL will be like this:
LT-Staley, Sims
LG-Iupati, Baas
C-Heitmann, Wallace
RG-Rachal, Snyder
RT-Williams, Boone :)
Now that is what I call some quality depth right there!!! Most likely than not, my final mock will have the top OT BPA at #13 and Iupati at #16/17. Just seems too good to be true. We actually could land the next Larry Allen...he seems just that good in what little I have seen so powerful with quick feet.
That is an OL that can do some serious damage. However, you all know my love fest for Maclin last year so I had to take the speed demon to be our RS and third down explosive option...just had to.
IMO, it will be either Iupati, Spiller, Bryant or E. Thomas, Hughes, Pierre-Paul or trade down on that second pick, lots of fun.
The bottom line is that we WILL draft our next ROT in the first, no doubt. It is that second one that keeps us guessing. I like it because we have the ability to take three potential starters with our first three picks.
I like our chances!

That would be a dream come true. Question is: What it be worth it if we trade our 1st rounder in 2011 and our 3rd this year? I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I read his post as a 2 part. In his mock he has us taking Spiller but then swaps out Spiller for Iupati in his description of that awesome OL.

My mock has us taking those two same players in the first round (though switched positions).
I would be thrilled if we took those 2 guys.

I agree with this. Funny thing, in any other year he might still be a first rounder even with the question marks.

I took Spiller, but made an aside about Iupati at that spot and that ultimately, I see Iupati being a great fit for us while upgrading the LOG spot. Therefore, the Iupati reference.
Dunlop is an interesting one as I do believe he is first round talent like Campbell for AZ, but I don't think he will drop out of the first. Instead, I see him gaining more ground and rising up the boards with his workouts, low twenties into the teens.
Thanks for the input, but the fact is that it is still way to early. Yet, there are some more talent coming into this draft from the underclassmen and may become talented all the way into the bottom of the second. I remember last year the buzz was the same, but many didn't declare.
This year it seems to be different as we are seeing more declare due to the ? marks for CBA and 2011 lockout. Good for us!
By the way fellas, do you see us possibly be willing to jump up from our second round pick for a first round caliber guy? I remember them talking about possibly jumping up to land Maluaga or someone else, I think a corner last year.
I just want three immediate impact players with at least one as our future ROT.

Detroit will likely have Suh as the top rated played followed by McCoy, Okung and Davis in whichever order. If you think Davis grades out highest of the 3 then fine but you are on the money with the need.
Cleveland is a hard team to figure out still, especially not knowing what D they will run but secondary help is needed and I wouldn't rule out Dez Bryant their either.
Don't be surprised if Okung goes to Oakland if he falls to them. But they will likely upgrade both sides of the trenches.
Jacksonville is also a wildcard with what they do. Bryant, Haden, Morgan are all options here as is a QB.
The only picks I don't see here are
Miami needs WR help, Dez Bryant would get serious consideration if there. I also could see them slide back if opportunity presents itself to select either Cody or Williams or even up to grab McClain.
Tennessee took Kenny Britt in the 1st last year and he showed some flashes so not so sure they go WR again. CB, LB and DL seem more likely to me.
Atlanta has more pressing needs on D (CB, OLB, DE) than RT. Not convinced they'd take an OT so high unless they can address all 3 pressing defensive needs through FA.
Overall Tico, very solid effort.

Nice work! Your reasoning is pretty solid on most of the picks based on team needs. No arguments from me at all.
P.S. I would take Iupati with the 2nd 1st round pick. That would take care of the Niners most pronounced needs.

How about we make this happen by trading up from the 2nd for Iupati? I know you don't want 2 rooks on the line, Ghost, but this would solve our line problems for ages.
Want!

As much as I love the idea of grabbing 3 studs like that, I'm not sure I'd give up the 2011 1st rounder to do it (and that's what it would take). Thinking ahead a little, if Alex doesn't show enough progress, you can bet we'll be using our top pick in 2011 to draft a QB, so I personally think it's critical to not give that up.
Not to mention, I highly doubt Scotty would make those kinds of moves just to draft a guard. I don't put it past him to use the 2nd or 3rd rounder for OG depth, but that's about it.
