FA: John Jolly DL
Trade the 17th pick to GB for there 23rd and 3rd rounder- GB moves up to select the last remaining tackle with a first round grade. Iupati is good but is a reach from the 17th pick. This puts us in perfect position to grab this player and grab another pick
1 Brian Bulaga OT
1 Mike Iupati OG
2 Nate Allen FS
3 Micah Johnson ILB
3 Walter Thurmond CB/KR/PR
4 Carlton Michtell WR
5 Jermaine Cunningham OLB
6 Cory Jackson FB
7 Aaron Pettrey K
Fills most needs. Rebuilt the OL and then added some players for the defense. Nate Allen probably could start at FS. Johnson can take over for Spikes and Thurmond helps in the return game game and probably play in the dime. Would be a lot higher if he didnt get hurt last year. Mitchell is a big receiver with speed and has good potential. Others fill depth a needs.

If it plays out like this, I'd love it. Problem is I doubt we will get Iupati if u trade back. Most people don't even expect Iupati to make it to 17th or 16th. Trading back at the risk of losing out on the best Guard prospect in a decade seems too greedy if u ask me.
Another note: I may be among the minority but I don't like or want to move Goldson to SS. He's never played the position in college or the pro's. Plus, he has had injury issues prior to this season. Moving him to SS will only increase that risk. I'd rather try and get a true SS instead of a FS. Prospects like Reshad Jones or Chad Jones would be perfect. One or both can be had in the 3rd round. WIth the 2nd round pick, I believe Jahvid Best, Marty Gilyard, Golden Tate, Brandon Graham, Jerry Hughes will be available. I'd take one of them.

I agree with Kronik, you don't mess around when the guy you want is there for you. Getting greedy will burn you.
Iupati will even be worth taking at #13, only if the top OT are gone. I would rate Iupati higher than Bulaga; but I really like Bulaga as a RT.

This. Why gamble when you know what you want?

Agree. Don't take chance of missing your guy if he is there.

Ditto.. If you like the player, in this case Iupati, what's the difference really if you draft him at 13, 17 or 23.. All that matters is that you made a good selection.. I think too many people get to hung up on value, reaching, overdrafting etc..
All I know is that we haven't had a real stud OG since Gogan.

Yeah, if your guy is there when your picking - take him. Why gamble and lose out on him all together just because of a couple of draft slots. Take the drama out of it and just take our guys.

I love the first round but I think people are really underestimating our needs at OLB. We can definitely improve there.

Not drug trafficking but drug possession. He was stopped for a traffic violation and had codeine in his possession. He was indicted back in December.

Yeah.. 3 years down the road, if the player has produced then nobody will ever say that the player was selected 3, 5 or even 10 slots too early..
We argue that Willis was selected 10 slots late.. I'll bet if the Raiders had selected Willis #1 and he performed for them like he has for us, nobody would care about some arbitrary and totally subjective value...
