Free Agency in Mock Drafts; Get Real people

I keep reading some of these mocks, where in FA you have us taking:
Shawne Merriman
Logan Mankins
Marcus McNeil
Jahri Evans etc

and the bottom line is, with no new CBA in place and an uncapped year in front of us, it ain't happening people. Heck, we'll likely re-sign our own RFA's this yera in Baas, Brookes and Hudson for depth.

The only "big name" guys I really see going are the older (30+) vets that are going to be commanding HUGE salries next year, Terrell Ownes, Julius Peppers and for the $ they'd want, I'd steer well clear to be perfectly honest and continue to develop our young team here.

I just don't see many teams really splashing the cash on players and if people are pinning their hopes on getting 2-3 legit starters in Free Agency then they need to smell the coffee.

2010 will be all about the draft for many teams. So many GM's/HC's jobs could be on the line if this draft goes tits up and Scotty Mac must be high up on that list, we need to hit in the A grades this year, anything else will almost certainly be a failure in my eyes.

We know we can win this division and we know that with addressing the needs in certain areas, we will do it.

So, if we can get starting;
OT
OG
KR
DB

Guys to spell/cover/situational:
OLB
DT/DE
RB - scat back, vary it up from Pounders of Gore and Coffee
OL

we'll go a long, long way in this draft.

We also need to stop drafting projects, be it drafting QB's to be WR/RB's or OC's that never suit up. Drsfting for need can be a Dangerous thing, but fact is, we need to fill these needs this year because we can win our division, we can make post season and then who knows......

Now, Just Do it Scotty.

With no salary cap, who cares how much money they want? Debartello built this team by throwing money around because there was no reason not to...except personal budget of course. But since Jed's personal budget doesn't concern me, I say spend!

You don't understand dude... with uncapped year, guys under 26 are restricted free agents, and depending on their tenders, you have to give up draft picks to sign them. It's not just about throwing money around.

I'm not talking about RFAs. I'm referring to the older guys who may not be "worth" what they'll get
Um, you do know why they're called "mock drafts" right? Doesn't have to be realistic, and if you don't like it, you don't have to read it, I promise

lol, just kidding, I understand but freedom of speech is a SOB....

Freedom of speech does not protect you from being mocked if you're wrong or if your idea is stupid.

Well, the reality is that we've been talking about addressing the same major weaknesses for 2 or 3 years now. So "getting real" would mean failing to address the OL in the draft. Again.
I Agree Completely!!

With no CBA, players will need 6 years of service to become UFA.. Most all the guys mentioned around here will less than 6, making the RFA, which means any team signing them will have to give up draft pick(s).

Teams will also have an additional transitional tag to use.

BOTTOM LINE:

Expect very little in Free Agency this March.

Sure, but these people really need to stop wasting their's and our time and look at the facts.

Here's a piece done on the site I write for about it.
