The Christian Ponder Bandwagon

I follow college football quite a bit and I can say without doubt that he never established himself as one of the top college QBs. People always talked about his potential and hyped him up, FSU even campaigned for him to be a Heisman finalist, however his play never came close to matching all these lofty goals. Maybe it was the injuries. After the Senior Bowl his stock goes way up and people start paying attention.
Ponder's gonna be pretty damn good if he goes to the right team. Love seeing some of this negativity from certain people about him. That just strengthens my belief, as I am quite sure that they are just horrible at evaluating anyway.

he reminds me of kyle boller

you my friend should be a stand up comedian

lol hes pretty much the exact opposite of Boller

How is he the exact opposite???

I wouldn't say he's the exact opposite, but I recall Boller's main selling point was how strong his arm was (he did that throw the ball through the uprights from your knees from a really long ways away party trick; JaMarcus did that too I think) while Ponder is definitely not known for having a big gun.

Again, they're probably not polar opposites but they're not exactly comparables for each other.

Cosigned, been on the CP bandwagon since last year.
Been on since the beginning and I'm staying on. Not that this matters, but several mock drafts had him going in the first round before he got hurt this year. The guy has talent and if placed in the right system (and if he stays healthy) will be a very good starting Qb. All of this stuff about his arm being too weak is complete rubbish.

I'm with Susweel for once (can't believe I just said that)...I'll take Ponder in the 2nd.

Well they're pretty similar if you ask me, only Ponder like you said doesn't have a cannon arm. Both are pocket passers first, both have the ability to make plays with their legs, both have the tendency to stare down they're first read (actually a lot of young QB's do it). One thing I'd give the edge to though is Ponder for his decision making, much much better than Boller IMO.
Heard Ponder and Gabbart will not throw at the combine.

Been reported by multiple sources this week that Ponder will in fact throw.

Yep. I don't care much for Gabbert anyway, but Ponder is one my favorite QBs in this draft, if not favorite. I don't really like Gabbert, Locker, or Newton. I like Ponder and Stanzi, and am neutral on Kapaernick and Mallett.

Agree with most of this, but guess I'm a little more okay with Gabbert than you.

Looks like he just changed his mind yesterday. Maybe he just figured out he will be inside a doom with no wind. That one ball during the senior bowl was brutal.

That one pass sure did hang up there fugly. I'll be interested to see him throw some deep ones... I feel he has enough arm, however unspectacular it may be.
Did everyone just see Christian Ponder run the 40? Mayock said he's gonna be a great West Coast QB and they even said, like a 49er West Coast QB?? and he said yes, like out in San Franciso. Me and Mike Mayock both think he's our future....

Well he really didnt say anything about the 49ers taking him. Mayock said he fits a West Coast Offense and they asked which West Coast offense because Philly likes to throw it deep. Rich Eisen asked if the 49ers would run the West Coast and Mayock said yes Harbaugh would run some West Coast with a power running game.
My question for all the Ponder fans is do you guys think this kid is really a franchise QB, even if it's just in a wco? I think he can be very solid & is a great fit for a wco but as we all know you need a franchise QB if you want to win the Super Bowl.
