So, you like Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder? You’re not alone.

After a disappointing senior season that was marred by injuries, the fast-rising Ponder was named the Senior Bowl MVP and he’s followed with strong performances at the NFL Combine and FSU’s pro day.

Honestly, I'd trade our 2nd and both 4ths in a heartbeat to get this guy. I fell in love with his ability last year and this article just affirms it. QB is the most important position by far, and if Harbaugh feels strongly enough about this kid to jump back into the first to get this guy, I'm all for it.

We have a decent amount of talent on this team already and a lot of extra picks. Time for us to start getting those key pieces at spots where we're lacking. Won't be shocked if we trade up at least once in this draft.

I believe Ponder's Pro Day is today.

It was March 16th..He looked good, threw to Isaac Bruce. He also looked better than Gabbert last night on Game Changers, IMO.

Maybe I'm thinking of his private workouts. I wondering if he has one with us.
that game changers was cool... it showed how smart Gabbert is, but I see some Alex in him with some "paralysis by analysis"... Ponder is much more instictive IMO

Haven't heard anything, as far as private workouts, scheduled with us. Then again, they seem to be less interested or just not showing their hand on Ponder. Hope and assuming its the latter.
might have to trade down in the first to get him.

Trade back INTO the first to get him. A guy like Peterson + Ponder would be a major haul in this draft, regardless of how many picks we need to trade to get Ponder.

We'd likely have to trade almost the rest of our draft and even then I doubt we'd get a pick high enough. I could be wrong but I think Ponder is going to go a lot higher than everyone is thinking. I'd love to have Peterson and Ponder but I think that is pie in the sky.

our 2nd and two 4ths should get us back into the first.

Yeah, but how high? I don't think it'll be high enough.

Not that pie-in-the-sky. Based on the draft value chart, a package of our 2nd rounder and both #4s could allow us to trade to 29/30/31.

You can then still get a good pass-rusher in the 3rd round like Sam Acho or Dontay Moch.

Peterson, Ponder, and Acho would be a super draft!

I don't think that is going to be high enough. I think at the very least we'd have to leapfrog Seattle and even then I'm not sure.

I have a gut feeling Shanahan will surprise everyone and pick Ponder at #10 or possibly with a slight trade down. People are talking about them drafting Locker at #10. If anyone thinks they would seriously consider Locker at #10, surely we'd have to also think they'd seriously consider Ponder.

Ponder is flying up the draft boards right now -- we'll see.

I don't think Seattle will be an issue - and I believe they're the odds-on favorite to land Kolb.

Colin Kaepernick at #41 makes a lot of sense to me. You let him sit for a year behind Grossman - in 2012 Shanahan has Kaepernick and maybe Julio Jones for an effective passing game.
