If we got the 1st pick next year, do we take Luck even though we've got Kap?

If is a big word...

What IF Harbaugh really is able to coach up Alex Smith and he becomes the QB we were promised when he was drafted with the #1 pick of the draft?

What if Colin works his way into the starting line up and looks like this years Sam Bradford?

If IF IF

Let's see how this season plays out a little more before we discuss Luck being drafted.

For the record, I think his stock will fall. He'll still be a 1st round pick...but I don't expect Stanford to have kind of season they had last season. It will hurt his stock regardless of how he performs.

IF yesterday was Thursday.........

It all depends on the developement of Kaepernick! If he is the stud QB that Harbaugh believes he is and we land the #1 pick in 2012, we could and should trade that pick for a kings ransom in draft choices. Look at what Atlanta gave Cleveland this year for the 2nd ranked WR Jones. What would a team like Buffalo or Oakland or Miami be willing to give for a true franchise QB in 2012. It excites me just thinking about it!
I dont think there is any question whatsoever that we would take Luck. He is the elite kind of QB that you win with. I dont think Kap's development would have any bearing at all on the decision to draft Andrew Luck. If you get that chance you jump on it.

I think we have a good chance to draft him next season. If we draft him or not, I think depends on the QB play this season.

I will take this action. Keep in mind Sam Bradfor got injured, had shoulder surgery and still went number 1. Luck is elite, unlike Leinhart and Locker.

so 24 hr dad you can call me out if I am wrong, but I think Luck will be a top 3 pick and there is no way the niners are picking top 3.
Andrew Luck was the best college QB and would have been the unquestioned #1 pick in 2011. But consider this, he had Harbaugh a QB guru coaching him up for at least 2 years (as I recall) to develope him into the player he is today. If Kaepernick had gone to Stanford, and had the great mentoring afforded to Luck, he may also have been the #1 pick in 2011. The fact is Kaep may end up the better player in the pro's than Luck, only time will tell. If Harbaugh sees greatness in his developement this coming year they will have no need to draft another franchise QB, they will already have one!

Sam Bradford wasn't the sure thing #1 pick his Junior year. He would have gone high but he wasn't a lock for #1. Matthew Stafford had that wrapped up.
If Kaepernick develops and even shows the slightest hint of good quarterbacking, we could trade him for more than Philly is asking for Kolb. So, yes, we take Andrew Luck if we have the chance.
IF Harbaugh is still sold on Kap as a franchise guy next year, than no, I would not.

Unless he falls on his face next year, Luck is going to be one of the most coveted draft picks in recent memory. Our trade back from #1 next year would make the Cleveland-ATL trade look like a ripoff. I'd take the picks.

IF Kap isn't coming along as expected, than I'd take Luck. Start Luck & develop Kap as plan B and/or for a later trade.

There's no way they'll know if Kaepernick is going to be worth keeping by this time next year unless he has a bad work ethic, which doesn't seem to be the case at all.

Exactly, develop him and trade him to the highest bidder, ala Kolb.
