If we got the 1st pick next year, do we take Luck even though we've got Kap?

Probably because nobody threw his direction after that...
1rst pick next year means we have 0-1 win next year........do you really feel we will do that bad?.....I refuse to answer this question......
I think that's a no brainer. That means Smith got injured or sucked it and Kap didn't show very well, even though he started with some time left in the season. Unless we go deep into the playoffs (I'd almost say SB) on the back of Kaep/Smith's arm, we have to take Luck. If not, we could probably get a king's ransom in draft picks.

If is a big word...

What IF Harbaugh really is able to coach up Alex Smith and he becomes the QB we were promised when he was drafted with the #1 pick of the draft?

What if Colin works his way into the starting line up and looks like this years Sam Bradford?

If IF IF

Let's see how this season plays out a little more before we discuss Luck being drafted.

For the record, I think his stock will fall. He'll still be a 1st round pick...but I don't expect Stanford to have kind of season they had last season. It will hurt his stock regardless of how he performs.

IF yesterday was Thursday.........

My april fools joke come back to haunt me...

Mark this down, "Luck's status will drop this season". New HC, new OC new offense. That plus how many sure fire #1 QB's that decided to stay in college kept that spot the next year?

I think we have a good chance to draft him next season. If we draft him or not, I think depends on the QB play this season.

I will take this action. Keep in mind Sam Bradfor got injured, had shoulder surgery and still went number 1. Luck is elite, unlike Leinhart and Locker.

so 24 hr dad you can call me out if I am wrong, but I think Luck will be a top 3 pick and there is no way the niners are picking top 3.

Sam Bradford wasn't the sure thing #1 pick his Junior year. He would have gone high but he wasn't a lock for #1. Matthew Stafford had that wrapped up.

This is interesting - what you're saying is by coming back, getting hurt, and hardly playing Bradford actually increased his stock. Meanwhile, Leinart and Locker went back to school, played every snap, and exposed all their flaws and were picked apart by scouts. Luck going back could be the best thing to happen for our chances at him, we'd be able to get him at 8 or 10. (I still think he goes #1).
Yes, Kaep can be really good, but there is less of a doubt with Luck. He is more of a sure thing than Bradford was last year.
Alex will probably play (bc the lockout really really screwed us)....so we have a great chance of getting a very high pick.

I say we take Luck if we can.....we saw in this years draft....star qb prospects mean value....and if we have two, then we have two great chips to keep or play with on the trade market
This would never happen, one can always dream, but yes definitely take him.

Just hypothetically. Discuss.

I dont think we should, we could trade the pick for a kings ransom thats for sure. To take Luck after having Kapp on board would show that the Kapp pick was not a JH pick. And it defeats the propose of developing Kapp.

It would also make the 9ers organization look amateur on top of being the NFLs worst team in having the first pick.
I still think Locker was lucky with many teams needing a QB so they reached for him, same goes for Newton,Gabbert,Ponder, etc.

Next year there's a new crop of good QB's actually worth a top 15 pick from Barkley to Luck and Moore. But if he's available to the 49ers absolutely grab him.

You don't pass up the best QB prospect in years because you have a project. So yah, if that happens we better draft him.

Kaepernick isnt a project. We used an early 2nd rounder on him. Projects are more 4th-7th round guys. Kap has the tools to be very good.

So you really want to pass up the best prospect since Peyton Manning because you have a guy who might be good, has never played in a pro style offense, funky throwing motion, and needs to learn to fix his footwork and read NFL defenses? No thanks, I'm going with Luck. And I would go with Luck over any QB prospect.

Can you point out where i said i wouldnt pick Luck? Of course i would. I was just saying Kap isnt just a project. Hes a highly talented qb with some minor tweaking to do with his mechanics.
