If we got the 1st pick next year, do we take Luck even though we've got Kap?

You don't pass up the best QB prospect in years because you have a project. So yah, if that happens we better draft him.

Kaepernick isnt a project. We used an early 2nd rounder (only because we couldn't get to the top of the first) on him. Projects are more 4th-7th round guys. Kap has the tools to be very good.

Fixed.

Luck is widely regarded as the best qb prospect since Peyton Manning. I don't care who you drafted before him unless you have a proven winner you have to take him.

I think you keep them both for a year see who emerges then trade the other. If Kaep blows it up in year 2 Luck's still going to carry maximum trade value.

Again, where did i say i wouldnt also take Luck? Its pointless to argue, since this team isnt bad enough to finish last, and whoever does have that pick isnt trading it for anything.

I think it's highly, highly unlikely but not out of the question. We have a weird schedule this year with 1 division game in the first 9 games. Outside of the division we're not as talented as people think. Over the past 2 years we have a 5-15 record outside the division (9-3 within the division). If we start off bad enough, injuries go against us, and either the Rams, Hawks, or Cards start running away with the division then it is possible for us to have a nightmare season.

Probally not bad enough for us to contend with the Buffaloes of the world, but then again the teams with the top 3 picks last year all posted 6+ wins. You never know whose going to be in the toilet from year to year.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Luck I'm just not as optimistic on the season as most people here are.

Are you kidding. The whole league would be creaming their pants for a chance of getting him.

the number 1 pick almost always has 3 wins or less. Seahawks at home, Cowboys at home, Bucs at home, Browns at home, Giants at home, Rams at home, @Bengals, @Lions, @Redskins, @Cardinals, @Seahawks, @Rams, ALL very winnable games. were going to win more than 3 games next year, so the chances of us getting the number 1 pick are almost impossible.

i know it sounds like were awesome or something, but were just too talented to win 3 or less games. theres only a handful of teams in the NFL who are bad enough to contend for the 1st pick slot, and then maybe 2 or 3 good teams that could be in the hunt if their top flight QB went on IR early in the season.

point is, were not going to get Andrew Luck unless he specifically tells the number 1 team he wont play for them, and he wants to be a Niner. thats literally our only shot at this point. And im not really that broken up about it, since the QB we just drafted has a LOAD of talent. whatever Harbaugh did to form Luck into this once in a decade prospect, hes going to do for Kap. lets be patient and see what we have.

Not sure were we're disagreeing.

I just said if we got Luck and in year 2 Kaep emerged Luck would still have maximum trade value.

Yeah, I know. I was just saying they would cream their pants if he became availble. I was trying to agree with you.
this is a moot point no way we are gonna be in top 5 at very worst we will end up with 5 wins

but honestly with good coaching last year we wouldve won at least 2 more games givinng us a spot in the playoffs

i just dont see us picking in the top 10 next year but even if the worst happens we will still be outside the top 5

Here's a novel idea, why dont we wait to see how Luck looks in a year without Harbaugh? Just a thought.

Bradford didn't even play his last season at Oklahoma and he still went #1 overall. Even if Luck stinks it up, he'll still go top 5.

Here we go again with what we think based on our own perceptions, what if after one year, Harbaugh himself feels Kaep will be the better QB than Luck? Not no way because of your opinion, but JH opinion (after all he did train him).

As for Luck being the best prospect since Peyton, that's all it is till he starts playing, possibly the best, that doesn't make him the next Peyton or like Manning.

If we do get a crack at Luck, two things to consider, JH ain't as good as we thought if the 9ers retrogresses and second everyone will want him if the niners and Harbaugh are satisfied with Kaep, so if the browns could get a kings ransom for a WR, think of what if will net the niners? It could set the tone for upcoming years.

For sure. If Locker can go #8 after his disappointing season and not be able hit the broad side of a barn, Luck will go top-5.
