Borland: I am stretching, coach! This is as high as it goes!

It's true, they're both short white guys with high motors, but it remains to be seen how Borland's game translates in the NFL. He's supposed to have good instincts but saying he's the next Zach Thomas or Kiko Alonso is outrageous. He's Chris Borland and we'll see how good he is as a pro.

Wow, I had kind of forgotten just how good he was.

They clearly display they have not watched anything outside of Pac 12 football. Then they start talking about arm length. How long of arms did Zach Thomas have? LOL. Not very long.

What makes Borland great is his instincts and reading what an offense is doing and understanding it all before the play even goes. You can't really teach that. Borland has it.

All I see is Borland getting owned every play

He had ten tackles and a sack in that game. I admit he had a few missed tackles that he usually gets, but he obviously didn't get "owned every play".

Hes always in position. Hes in always in on the tackle on every play they dare go near him. Has insane power, agility, awareness, fast game speed and pass rush ability for our D. Look at the spin moves he has vs OTs. You can see in this clip how they call plays away from him. Then still see him on the tackle. The TDs here where clearly not his fault or in his ao. The rush TD he wove his way in and barely missed the tackle imo. Borland is a beast and has been for a while. You always heard him talked about on Saturdays. Behind this DL and stacked LB core we can do alot with his caliber of player. We got a great LB whos size doesnt matter. Hes proved that vs top teams 3 years straight.
Hhhmmmmm....... as long as he can tackle Marshawn Lynch.

Seriously though, it appears hes great instincts and did well at the top of the College level. Will he be able to do the same at the Pro level where everybody fast? Time will tell. Very hopeful he can contribute until Bowman comes back and he turns into an ST Ace!

I don't really care about the TD, i'm just talking the regular plays. For example, the 2nd play of the game, he's makes the right decision and shoots the gap but has so little speed that he can't catch up to the RB

How did Kiko Alonso get lumped in with Borland and Thomas?

I couldn't remember where I heard it, so I google'd it and it was Mayok who said, "Borland could be the Kiko of this year's draft." A loose comparison, but a comparison nonetheless. For what it's worth, Mayok thinks highly of Borland.

:( I had hopes that Harbaugh's declaration Moody was the best special team's player he's ever seen wasn't just typical Harbs hyperbole (or Harperbole as I call it).

Is it me or does Chris Borland seem like a very Vance-McDonald-like pick?

Not really, I don't know how he has the stats he does, but the one bit of good that has come out of Taber was his extensive research on Smith and the crazy amount of tackles he got credit for when he had little to no impact on the play. He went in depth and showed how incredibly often Smith got credit for the T when he deserved none. He musts have had dirt on the statisticians.
