What makes Borland great is his instincts and reading what an offense is doing and understanding it all before the play even goes. You can't really teach that. Borland has it.

Originally posted by ElephantHaley:Chris Boreland was a heck of a football player at Wisky I don't doubt that BUT his arms are short and he's short stack. He can sure hit but I'm worried about his lateral movement. I know he'll excel on special teams but you don't spent a 3rd rounder hoping to get a special teams player. I wish Baalke woulda waited and Boreland mighta still been there. We coulda used a CB at #77 a true CB like McGill or desire or Phillip Gaines.

7× Pro Bowl (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003,2005, 2006)
5× First-team All-Pro (1998, 1999, 2002, 2003,2006)
2× Second-team All-Pro (2001, 2005)
2× NFL Alumni Linebacker of the Year (1998, 2006)
It's true, they're both short white guys with high motors, but it remains to be seen how Borland's game translates in the NFL. He's supposed to have good instincts but saying he's the next Zach Thomas or Kiko Alonso is outrageous. He's Chris Borland and we'll see how good he is as a pro.
