this guy brings the the one pivotal attribute we lost when P-willy retired: leadership.
Perryman was the leader of that defense at the U, and he is a high-character guy on and off the field. He commanded the defense, and lead by setting the tone. They don't come more physical than this guy. DP plays with reckless abandon the entire game while remaining durable. He leaves it all on the field every single game. Size and measurables are great, but i'll take instincts, football IQ, and leadership over that fluff any day. A lot of guys in the NFL have impressive measurables until they see Marshawn Lynch coming at them, and then they turned into midgets. I guarantee you Denzel Perryman will not shy away at the point of attack.
If we want to return to that intimidating, menacing defense, the first step in the draft is drafting Denzel Perryman. We need this man in red and gold.
Portis: Denzel Perryman can fill Patrick Willis' void on 49ers
"If you put him in the right scheme he will be excellent," Portis told stateoftheu.com. "I can see the49ers taking a long look at him with Patrick Willis retiring. Picking up a linebacker who comes with his attitude would really help them."
I would like to see him in a 49ers uni, think he can be a difference maker in the NFL, but he should be there in the 3rd... as good as he is, he's not as explosive as you would like an undersized ILB to be. Even though his instincts more than make up for it, it should be enough to drop him to the 3rd.

I've seen the Packers more recently projected to take either Kendricks or Anthony at #30. Perryman probably goes late 2nd to early 3rd round, should be still on the board at Niners #46 pick. I just see the Niners taking Dawson over Perryman there however.
