The biggest skeptics of Smith are Ohio State fans. We have seen him play four years and know that he is strictly a vertical threat and nothing more. He is great at the long ball, but there is a reason he was playing behind Thomas and Marshall for chunks of the year. Can't believe some project him as a first or second rounder. Crazy!!!!
That`s what I`m been saying,I would not draft Smith @ 15, I would rather Draft Coates @ 15 at least He does run more of the route tree and He is just as fast and bigger.

You lost me as soon as you said you'd rather draft Coates @ 15 LOL. I could care less if he can run more of a route tree he has bricks for hands. Coates dropped 1 of every 9 passes throw his way this year

You can teach someone how to run better routes and I think we finally found a good WR coach ( he taught Beckham and Landry).

People said the same thing about Desean Jackson...
they can all run a beautiful route and get open against any defenses design, but if Kaep can't get them the ball, they will forever have Anthony Carter and Michael Crabtree like stats.,.,., "average" at best..

you might have a point in a coach who can teach Smit how to run routes,I had a brain-fart I was still thinking that Morton was still coaching the WRs,but could`nt that statement be also true for Coates being taught by same said Coach to catch?

I think dropping 1 out of 9 passes is pretty eye opening. Draft Analyst Lance Zierlein stated Coates has some of the worst hands he has ever seen on tape, I mean take it for what it is lol. I'd rather have a guy who has good hands, but needs to get more polished on running routes vs a guys who can't catch anything and doesn't run good routes.

Whats the point in having a WR if he can't catch

I don't think Devin's hands are in question:

^^^^^ Whoa! That's an Odell Beckham - type catch right there. And I'm telling you, Smith has ridiculous speed. He'll probably blow up the combine and jump up on the charts.

Right! He is about the same size as Beckham (maybe a little taller) He is nowhere close to Beckham when it comes to running routes, but he is blazing fast and makes big time catches. He will shoot up the boards after the combine....we need this kid!
My sleeper is DONATELLA LUCKETT from Harding...no kidding. 6', 206 - Great athlete, good size, excelled at RB and on defense, now lines up at split end and WR. Excellent kickoff returner. Jack-of-all-trades.

DONATELLA LUCKETT
Ohio State WR Devin Smith is a "smooth speed merchant with instant gas off the line," wrote NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein.

"Electrifying foot quickness," Zierlein wrote. "Game-breaking speed with necessary feel of a downfield receiver. ... Smith isn't just combine-fast, he's game-fast and he would have had more than 12 touchdown catches during the 2014 season if he didn't have to slow down and wait on throws so often." Smith has run a reported 4.33 forty.

I agree Smith does have Game Speed I call it "on the field speed", we might have to take D Smith if K White is not there @15,just sayin.

Very likely that Cooper & White off the board by #15 and probably Parker gone to the Vikings as well. Baalke could probably trade down with Carolina at #25, pick up an extra 2nd RD pick #57 and Smith will be there. Ravens, Seahawks and Patriots draft soon after and are possible landing spots for Devin Smith.

This is what I want. Go DL (Goldman) round 1, Smith in round 2 and then another RB (Duke) with that extra 2nd

What I meant is that Devin Smith should be there at #25 in the 1st RD, but not sure that he makes it to #46 pick in RD 2.
Also a chance that Bengals could take him at #21 before he even gets to Ravens, Seahawks and Patriots at the end of the 1st.
I've gone back and watched enough OSU to completely have a much more informed opinion on Devin Smith. The dude is for real. Like really for real.

He's better than Cooper and White. He might even be better than DGB. He's coordinated, flexible, has great hands & concentration, high-points the ball well, and he has that Sammy-Watkins kind of burst. Plus he's tough to bring down like Watkins. In fact, I think Watkins is a good comparison for Devin Smith. (Watkins has about 15 pounds on Smith though). The dude has it all except for the fact that he's not 6'4.

OSU WR Devin Smith is "just unreliable on non-vertical patterns," according to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

"Spending a lot of time on WR Devin Smith today. I understand the appeal, but just unreliable on non-vertical patterns. High ceiling role WR," Brugler tweeted. The big-play wideout recorded 12 touchdowns on 33 receptions in 2014, while leading the leading the NCAA with a score every 2.75 catches. While some may question other parts of Smith's game, his deep-threat ability may make up for those weaknesses. Brugler noted in another tweet that if you "need a deep threat he fits," but if you're looking for more from Smith, he "won't fit if you want more."

Mike Wallace all over again.
