Completely agree. Plays like an average-speed guy.

My own opinion for getting an all-around receiver is to find a guy who isnt super twitchy, like a 4.5 guy, not a 4.3 guy, and whose film is fast because, as a runner, he has more strength/endurance than the world-class sprinters (whose legs cant take an high-volume workload like play after play, game after game). The prime example is jerry rice, who could sprint at 95% of max game after game, all game long. World-class sprinters cant do that. They'd get injured right quick.

Find the guy that plays fast play after play. He'll be on the field all season...producing.
I watched the video of his forty about a dozen times. It is in the low 4.2 range, which is crazy. He is not that fast on film. He is a deep threat, that is his bread and butter. The issue for him, like a number of other WRs in this draft is doing anything else but a 9 route. 50 catches in a full season is a pretty bad number for a guy thought to be an early selection.
This would be such a reach @ 15. I see the need to improve team speed but we can do that in later rounds. We have already improved our team speed with T. Smith & R. Bush. Also improved our corner speed a bit with Shareese Wright over P. Cox. Our 1st pick has to be D-line, O-line or DB... You can have all the speed players in the world but if you don't win up front, you aren't winning games. That's why I think D-line or O-line should be the pick.

Can pick up a Devin Smith, Philip Dorsett, or other potential WR's in rounds 2 or 3.
This kid is fast and has pedigree, but he couldnt carry DGB's jock on the field

We need a go to WR to pair with Torrey once Boldin is done. DGB can be that guy if we trade down to get an extra day 2 selection. Then we can select on day two a DE ILB and OG. Day three we can got six picks left where we can select CB RB QB OLB TE S. We gotta draft to plug future holes too.

I don't care what he ran, the bottom is he is not that fast on the field. You are not running in a straight line every play and the steps in transition matter substantially when it comes to your collective "field speed".

All this is not to say that he can't be a good player, but he is one of the most overrated prospects in this class. Obviously even more raw than he would be, had he stayed for his senior year, so there's some upside and potential, but after reviewing the complete package, I just can't bring myself to give him more than a 3rd round grade. I think his true value right now matches that.

Some team may see certain signs that lead them to believe his "future value" is high enough to warrant an earlier selection. That's fine. But he had a lot of opportunities due to the injuries Rannell Hall battled this year -- who by the way is an extremely underrated talent who I think could be a steal for somebody -- and despite that, as MD mentioned, Perriman only had 50 catches this year. Coaches will need to go back and determine if the reasons why that happened are negligible enough to warrant taking him in the 1st.

It's not really the 40 time that makes a difference but the ability consistently win the hand fighting and physical battle against the corner. Stevie Johnson and Torrey Smith are perfect examples of that. Stevie Johnson run a 4.6 and Revis ran a 4.3 but SJ13 would kick his ass regularly. Sherman, Browner, and all the Seattle corners are just specialists at winning the hand fighting and that's what allows them to shut down much faster guys.
Kiper mocked him to us at 15 weeks ago. Many scouts predicted he would blow up his pro day based on his film and he did. Hes clearly fast on tape and on the track.

And to put his production into perspective Jaelen strong had 120 more yards and one more TD then him last season. Definitely a guy worth looking into for the 49ers. I didn't think it was possible but I think this wr class might be better then last years.
No thanks

I like him alot. I want us to take him in Round 2.
There's also are reason why The U did not recruit him heavily tho his uncles both went to the University!!

Early 3rd round at best... and he'll be a very very good #2 receiver..

This is what I would do. I still believe you build in the trenches out.
I don't understand why Browns and jags and teams like that don't draft more OL & DL WITH THERE 1st and 2nd year picks and then build out from there.

Not even nearly as fast as his timed speed suggests. Taking him in the 1st round would be a trainwreck IMO.
I'm trying to understand posters who watch a verified 4.25 second 40 and respond with "he's not that fast." A verified clock doesn't lie. Maybe he's a long strider who covers a lot of ground per step. Dude is 6-2, 212 lbs. Seems like a freak to me.
