I'll take him in the second. If I hear his name with our 15th pick I'm going to throw the nearest thing around me. Especially if one of the top receivers are still on the board.

What posters are saying is he doesnt run at max speed during game play.
You can be a 4.26 guy and easily play at 4.6 speed through mediocre effort.

And to put his production into perspective Jaelen strong had 120 more yards and one more TD then him last season. Definitely a guy worth looking into for the 49ers. I didn't think it was possible but I think this wr class might be better then last years.
Not even nearly as fast as his timed speed suggests. Taking him in the 1st round would be a trainwreck IMO.
20 yards a catch two years in a row + guys I trust like Brandt and Jeremiah acknowledging how fast he is is pre pro day suggest otherwise. For sure a risk in the 1st but I like his potential before guys like Smith and Dorsett in the 2nd.

I would still take Smith over him in the 2nd, no question about it.

I'd take Smith over Perriman in a heart beat.

He gets caught from behind an awful lot for someone with supposed 4.2 field speed. Again, as stated, the steps made in transition and his overall field speed are entirely different than his straight line time. Even with all that said, speed is just one small attribute out of the many you look at for a player. I'm less concerned about that than I am his overall game.

If we draft Perriman in the first I'm going to pull the hammer and the trigger at the same time...

He may not play as fast as his 40, but he still plays fast. You don't average over 20 yards a catch with poor game speed. Anyone that runs a 4.2 is going to be fast on the field. Speed is not a question for Perriman. It's an asset.

How does this guy get caught from BEHIND on his highlights if he is running in the 4.2's? He plays nowhere near that. Not even in the same category. He looks like 4.5's on tape. I would not even guess 4.4 on game tape. Game speed and track speed are two different things. Plus pro days are usually hand held times and not electronic laser times like the combine. Very unreliable. I'm not sure we can even say he really ran that. He's probably pretty fast. But these are not laser times like the combine.

Totally agree, game tape shows him getting caught vs say Devin Smith who ran like a 4.42 but plays a lot fast than that.

Devin Smith plays much faster in games. No doubt about it.
