Phoenix, if Wentz is there at #7, do we take him?

I kind of like him. Good ar and athletic. Seems smart and looks like he has good leadership qualities from the practices.

That's what I'm wondering too. There's 3 teams ahead of us that could use a QB: Browns, Chargers, and Cowboys.

I think Goff will separate him and get snagged by Cleveland. Pears would've been and upgrade at OT for SD. They'll draft a LT. Dallas will go defense because that's where they need the most help. They'll bring in a QB in FA and likey draft someone in the 2nd-3rd.

I could see Wentz, Nkdemiche, Spence, VH3, and Jaylon there. Wentz would be intriguing because of his mobility, but he's not a top-10 player, IMO. I wouldn't touch a DB that early either.

For me, I'm prepping to see Nkdemiche, Spence, and possibly Buckner there. I'd be happy with any of them, assuming the hotel jumper checks out in interviews.

The Chargers? No. Although they could be thinking of an heir apparent, not that high. TOOOOO many needs when they have a number 1 guy. I could somewhat buy the Cowboys. Whatever happens, we should have a shot at one of the top three QBs available at 7.
I am sure Goff will not throw at the combine, so it will come down to his pro day. Can he blow people away in combine interviews and at his Pro Day? If so, should be a top 7 pick for sure.

Nkemdiche is flat out crazy, from some reports. Crazy as in mental. And, that was before the hotel room incident

I said they'd draft a Tackle

I was just reading that some scouts believe he's still a possibility in the top-5. The Chargers and Cowboys are taking a hard look at him.
Has a good arm not great and floated some balls at the senior bowl which is not to my liking. His measurables are nice had some drop balls at the senior bowl hope he throws at the combine
Thoughts of him at 7?? I still think Goff goes to the Browns and I don't see the cowboy's drafting a QB in top 5 to sit the bench for a couple years.

SD could go LT, Bosa or Ramsey. Any of them can come in day 1 and be an instant impact player for them and there is a need at all 3 spots. And with this being a deeper class with OT's it is a very real possibility their first pick is a defensive player.

I'm starting to like Wentz more than Goff.

Don't get me wrong, I HOPE they are content with RGIII or Johnny Football as backups to Romo as that gives us the chance to draft/or allow another team to trade up for Goff. I just think they'll deeply regret that move 2-3 years from now.

I think drafting a QB who shouldn't be needed for another 2 years at pick 4 would be just as silly as not planning for the future post Romo. They really need impact players on defense, I'd be amazed if that's not their no.1 target. I see three options for the Cowboys- trade back for whichever qb falls outside the top 10(unlikely), draft Cook/whoever 2nd round or later, RGIII/Manziel. Unless they know Romo will struggle to get through next season, I think they'd be crazy to use such a high pick on a qb they ideally shouldn't need.

My sense is, that's the thinking that many teams had when they passed on Aaron Rodgers in 2005. Of course, the only team that had the foresight to see beyond the two years was Green Bay.

I don't entirely disagree with your point, I just think that if your organization has done it's homework and feel that first round QB has "franchise" potential, you bite the bullet and draft him. Exception being teams that have recently drafted their franchise QB (e.g., Tenn, Jax, Tampa) or signed theirs to a big contract (Balt, Miami, etc).

Even more so if your QB is 35+ and coming off an injury-plagued year. Doubly so if you were able to secure 3 first-round prospects from your draft last year for various reasons (Jones, Gregory and Collins). In that scenario, you have more wiggle room than most teams to take a chance on a top prospect should one fall to you at #4.

There's a good chance Dallas will not be picking this high again any time soon, so if I wanted to set my franchise up for the next decade, I strongly consider Goff or Wentz at #4, then address defense/offensive weapons with my remaining picks.

The Cowboys need a reliable backup to Romo. I don't see a draft pick doing that for them.
