QB Carson Wentz NDSU 6'5 225 Lbs

i don't like Goff that much..only his smarts and vision

if only they could be fused into one person

you forgot accuracy footwork, and ability to sense and evade pressure in the pocket.

Intelligence, vision, accuracy, footwork, and pocket presence. Yuck. He should be stronger and weigh more, and that's completely impossible to correct.
To the browns he'll go

regardless I don't see them taking a QB in the 1st unless things go south with Kap and SF's reps at the combine...I just can't see them agreeing to have Kap come back then drafting a QB in the top 10.

I hate the "upside" factor. Which one is the harder worker? Which one can't stand losing and works even harder to win next time? Both of these QB's are good. I want the one who thinks he can win every game by working harder and plays with the most confidence.

Which one has the best vision? That's also a big factor.

From everything I've seen, I'd say both are very hard workers. I think Goff is more polished though, better accuracy, much better footwork, both have a very quick release, Carson has the stronger arm and is much more athletic, Goff has just enough mobility to take off and run for a few yards but not a super running threat. I think Goff has more demonstrated experience in going through his progressions and making the correct throw.

This is true...all I've read about Wentz is he's a leader.

Mayock added that Wentz has drawn praise from scouts for his intangibles. "His character apparently is off the charts, that's what I was told by everybody surrounding the Senior Bowl that had anything to do with him. Smart, tough, loves the game," http://www.rotoworld.com/recent/cfb/134146/carson-wentz

I like both but I think we Baalke saying we are keeping Kap I doubt we draft either.

He wasn't going to be healthy by April 1st so its not like they had a choice. I've learned not to put much stock into what Baalke says. Kaepernick may or may not stick around but when it comes to Baalke, I just assume he's selling some BS.

Kind of like the promise of an open competition between Pinion and Lee last year or him talking about the 49ers keeping Alex Smith in 2013 when the whole world knew he was going to be traded.

I still fully expect the 49ers to draft a QB sometime in the first 3 rounds. I doubt that Chip is going to rest the success of his potential last NFL HC gig for a long time on the shoulders of Kaepernick or Gabbert.

Seems like either would be a good pick for a franchise QB. The tougher decision for Baalke right now isn't which QB we draft, it is which position do we draft first.

I'm always for the QB if that QB has the ability to be a franchise QB. Draft now and start him in 2 or 3 years.

Also.

49ers GM Trent Baalke said he expects Colin Kaepernick to remain on the roster through April 1 and compete with Blaine Gabbert for the starting job.

April 1 is important because that's the date Kaepernick's $11.9 million becomes guaranteed. All indications to this point have been that the front office and new coach Chip Kelly want to keep Kap, and he's "more than open" to returning after being benched in favor of Gabbert last season. If Kaepernick is unwilling to renegotiate his contract, however, the 49ers could opt to move on and turn to Gabbert and a highly-drafted rookie at the quarterback position.

He missed the majority of the season with a wrist injury.

not quite all year, but yeah. if he attempted the same number of passes as Goff he would have had 28 drops if the same ratios held. still a significant disparity.

Well yeah, Goff was dealing with some super crappy receiving talent outside of Lawler, who also had some pretty bad drops at times.
