Minnesota 1st rounder and a conditional pick that can become a 2 if the Vikings advance to NFC Championship game . f**k Howie Roseman right in the ear!
Knew this kid was going to be good. He's impressive so far.

Very
Super star. Should have been the #1 pick.
I was completely wrong about him. He's going to be an elite player. Very impressive start of a season.

MadDog wins again, thus far.

Mel Kiper and Greg Gabriel win, they were on the Wentz bandwagon well before about 99% of people. Kiper was talking him up as a 1st rounder back in April of 2015. Gabriel made a lot of favorable comparisons to Andrew Luck, as did Greg Cosell. Seems those guys have been vindicated thus far.
I liked Wentz, but I wasn't sure about trading up. Turns out that would have been the right move. He's legit.

The fact the Eagles got their one back next year for off loading Bradford just pisses me off.
Where's all the guys who gave our GM a pass for not moving up to get a QB?

There's no talent worth the trade they said

I'm looking at you guys.... Guys like Phoenix who claim to know more than the average poster. Great job Phoenix!

When a guy works out, its worth a trade, when they dont, people get fired and it sets a team back years. If Wentz works out for Philly then good for them, it was still a bad trade for the 49ers to attempt. It would have meant blowing up two drafts in which they are likely to have high draft picks.

Not worth it, especially with the questions about the OL in particular at the time. You dont give up that much for a young QB if you arent sure you can protect them.

Wentz has done great but his defense has also put him in some great positions, allowed for shorter scoring drives...etc.

Meanwhile the 49ers could easily have been the Rams with a QB that they traded a ton for that cant get off the bench.

@BD: I find it's more often the folks with generally negative opinions who act as if they know more than anyone else on the boards.

Football-wise I find I am generally in agreement with most of Phoenix's takes which are usually quite reasonable.

With regards to our FO's seeming inability to find good QBs. It sucks to see these guys we passed on, or didn't believe in enough to take a chance on, go on and be successful. That shows the limitations in the abilities of our FO to accurately judge the talent at the QB position (and others) and that is deeply concerning. Of course I know that we had and still have far more holes to fill on the roster than just at QB, but still.

Never saw him play in college so I was skeptical.

He certainly looks like he belongs
