NK smoked weed and fell out a window. Not even close to comparable. Terrible comparison.

Do you realize how difficult it is to fall out of a hotel window? The dude has serious problems. They're different problems than DGB's problems, but it's still a huge red flag. Probably the single greatest reason GMs pick busts (besides injuries) is because they can't predict how hard these people will work and what kind of decisions they'll make once they're millionaires.

I'd be thrilled to have this monster on defense, but I'd be extremely worried too.

Not that hard if your 6'4 300 pounds. Leaning up against a window could break it at that weight. His problems are bad but no where near as bad as DGB. Not by a mile.
To state the obvious, there's also the realistic possibility that he has a lasting (permanent?) injury after falling 4 stories to the ground.

I'm hoping he falls enough that we can trade back in the first or trade up from the second to get him. Jaylon Smith at 7-10 and Nkemdiche at 39 would make out defense ferocious for years.

Jaylon Smith at 7-10? Have you not heard the bad news? He's probably going in the 3rd round or lower.

And if Nkemdiche is there even at 15-20, I say get him by whatever means necessary. Trade up from 2 or trade a player. Whatever. Just make it happen.

No injury was reported and he is healthy. So nope no possibility he is hurt.

No way Smith falls to the 3rd. Worst case scenario is top of the second. Even if he has to sit a year he's a top 10 talent and those just don't fall that far.

Top 10 before getting hurt does not mean you're guaranteed to go top 10 after sitting out most (all) of a year. He's more of an injury risk going forward after tearing his ACL and LCL, he'll be a year older and there's no guarantee he'll be as explosive after coming back, though I'm rooting for him and there have been some positive reports following the surgery.

I agree that he's not going to last past the top of the second, but if he was guaranteed to be a top 10 pick after sitting out a year, he would probably stay. Worst case for him if he declares is he's a late first round pick and doesn't get to collect on his insurance policy.

It's not a possibility??? He didn't play in the bowl game against Oklahoma State, and who's obligated to tell the media if he's injured & how severely? His doctors? He's not under contract with anyone; he can say or not say whatever he wants.

The dude fell 4 stories onto pavement. He was hurt. The question is how badly.

There's "no way"? Was there no way Lattimore would fall to the 4th?

Of course it's possible Smith falls to teh 3rd or even to the 7th.

Smith is a better prospect with a less severe injury and injury history. Plus, he can choose to stay a year if he's going to be a late round pick. If he's going to be a 4th round pick, he isn't coming out this year. Of course there's a shot that he dies between now and the draft and doesn't get drafted at all, but realistically, he won't make it past the 2nd round. I'm not even confident he'll be there when we pick in the 2nd.
can someone explain this guy's value? some mocks have him top 5 then i come here and you guys are hoping he falls to the second

i understand his off the field trouble with the marijuana incident but that's still a huge dropoff between different sites

He's a monster on the field. Most dominant defensive player in NCAA IMO. But his character is in question, and that's the hardest thing for a GM to predict: what will he be like when he gets a bunch of money?
He still goes in the first IMO. Too much talent to ignore, and he still has time to improve his image

Lots of red flags. But if he's there in the 2nd....
