Can you then explain me why you WOULD NOT apply that to the GREAT Armstead when he was at OREGON? having a better team, especially offensivlely, and often up by at least 17 pits, Armstead shoulda had more than 2.5 sacks since he shouldn't worry bout the running game.. NO?
and weren't you the one who often said that WE DO NOT LOOK FOR DEs under the 3-4 who can RUSH THE PASSER??
why is it suddenly, his 9.6 sacks count?
and by the way, SCREW the PFF whatsoever.. that imaginary stuff doesn't even count.. the gerat score or stats that you all look for in that PFF, it will never get a player into the hall of fame..
Armstead had 2.5 sacks because he played a NT role in Oregons hybrid 3-4/4-3 scheme
That was not his job

In Palazzolo's own, based on metrics and not a read of teams' intentions, Buckner went No. 3 to the San Diego Chargers. "We even considered Buckner as an option at the No. 1 pick," he wrote. "While we still believe [OSU DE Joey] Bosa to be the top player in the draft, Buckner's length and overall size (6-foot-7, 290 pounds) are a perfect fit for a 3-4, and there are likely teams that will have him higher on their board than Bosa. Buckner's not limited to one position, however, as he did play inside at Oregon, but he has the unique length to challenge offensive tackles on the edge as well." Buckner finished the year ranked as the No. 1 pass rusher and No. 8 run defender in PFF's interior defensive line rankings. "Given his ability to affect the game as both a pass rusher and against the run, while showing the scheme versatility to move around the defensive line,

Opening the half looking slow. Not sure if he's tired or bored (seriously one-sided game)

The punt block-play advance-first down was amazing in how it showed his athleticism. Funny play

I'd be excited about this pick. Guys with this size/athletisism don't come around too often, and he was very productive in college, more so that Bosa, who is projected to go higher.
Niners would have the makings of a physically dominant DL, and that's something to build on.

I don't think we have the luxury of taking two DEs back to back. Sure it would be nice but I think we have bigger needs. Buckner would be in the same range as Ronnie Stanley OT from Notre Dame who would give us much better value.

But we already have 2 OTs selected in the 1st and under multi-year contracts. Plus, we have Brown for another 3 years and he's looks very promising. That's already 3 starting caliber tackles. I don't see drafting a 4th in the top-5 as good value. That's horrible value if he's not going to see the field.

We need to find an eventual replacement for Joe Staley. I'm not sure I want to pin my hopes on Trenton Brown and can't trust what Anthony Davis will bring back to the table. Our OL needs help!
Guess we'll agree to disagree on this topic.

I'd love to see some talent at Guard, which there should be some interesting guys hitting FA. I think Trent breaks the banks and gives Osemele $8m/yr to play LG for us.

But remember that Anthony Davis is supposedly coming back. And having a great DL covers up a lot of sins on defense.

There's way more important things to worry about besides a replacement for Staley.

This. People are talking like he isn't a starting caliber tackle anymore.

If we got him it would make Eli Harold look real good setting the edge
