I think he is going to be a top 10 pick.

Lol no. Buckner's going top ten. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone take him top 5

Sitting at #7 I think he may be the pick, he's make a very nice bookend with AA..with Stanley being the other possible pick. I'd be happy with both. Jack could be a sleeper and Fuller could be a target in a trade back scenario

I'm only lukewarm on this guy. Maybe in the 15-20 range but not in the top 10. I can think of a few players that I'd rather have like Ogbah, Jack, Treadwell, Stanley.

Thank you Pete..
I really have no idea why people are so high on Buckner.. the guy has a great size and a great upside, but bottom line is, he's motor (most important of all) is only SO-SO at the very best..
Sure he will try and dominate all the workouts, but just like Mandarich, Mamula, Lawson and others who had impressed, if you don't have the motor, you just wont have it all once you get into the NFL..
he's either Haynesworth, Wadsworth, Brown, Sean Gilbert or McGlockton!!

DeForest Buckner – DE – Oregon
Buckner is a former 4-star recruit from Hawaii who was offered by mostly west coast schools. He started two games as a true freshman and had 29 total tackles and 1.0 sacks. In 2013, he played in all games with 8 starts. He finished the year with 39 total tackles and 2.5 sacks. In 2014 he started every game and finished with 81 total tackles including 13 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. This year his production increased to 76 total tackles including 16 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. He has shown improvement every year as a player.
Size –
6'6'– 302 – 4.88
Strong Points – Has great size with very long arms. He is strong and explosive with very good athleticism, speed and body control. Stays on his feet and easily changes direction. Is a quick reactor with good instincts. Makes plays. Can control blockers at the line of scrimmage and get penetration to disrupt the run. Sheds quickly. Very good pass rusher with the ability to use counter moves. Will chase plays in pursuit. Very solid competitor, don't see him taking plays off.
Weak Points – Doesn't have a twin brother
Summation –
This is a player who has shown improvement every year he has been at Oregon. Has the natural physical traits to be a dominant defensive lineman in the NFL. While he plays in a 3-4 scheme at Oregon, he can play in any scheme at the next level. Has really come on as a pass rusher this year and learned how to set up opponents and put moves together. Will no doubt be a top 10 pick and could very well be the first or second defensive linemen drafted. Should come in and start right away. As good as he is, he still has unlimited upside.

Coming into this week's Oregon-Stanford showdown, DeForest Buckner was the highest-graded interior defender in the nation going up against Joshua Garnett, the highest-graded guard in the nation.
Buckner emerges having only enhanced his credentials and extended his lead atop the interior defender rankings, while Garnett has slipped off the top spot in the guard list thanks to their matchup. He was the clear winner when the two went head-to-head early every time. Coming into this game, Garnett has surrendered just two sacks, two hits and three hurries for a total of seven pressures on the season. Buckner beat him for a sack and three hits alone, and demolished him on a bull rush for two of them.
Bull rushes don't produce as much pressure as simply beating a player to the in or outside — because it's a hell of a lot tougher moving a 300-pound blocker all the way to the quarterback than it is just beating him there yourself — but they can lay down a real marker of sheet physical superiority. That's what this game felt like for Buckner who beat Garnett outside twice, but also just drove him back to the quarterback on a couple of occasions.
This is something Garnett simply hasn't experienced much, especially this season. In fact, Buckner is the only player to generate any positive pass-rush against Garnett by bull rushing him this season, and he did it as if it was no big deal. This was Garnett's first negatively-graded game of the season and only the fourth over the last two years.
Buckner was a player that I liked better than teammate and first-round pick Arik Armstead a year ago, and this represents his 11th-straight positively graded game — every game this season. He has now eclipsed the mark Henry Anderson posted a year ago as the best-graded interior defender in the nation, and has done so over just 11 games.
Buckner now has a sack in the past five consecutive games and has yet to be blanked as a pass-rusher this season. He has been absolutely dominant as a pass-rusher and is not much worse as a run defender, where he was actually far better against Stanford.
Buckner is a man amongst boys in almost all of the games he plays in, and as we saw this past Saturday, he's just far too physically strong and talented for most college blockers to stand a chance.

Would not be upset at all with DeFo in the first if we get Wentz with the next pick, probably a late first required for Wentz though. My son is at Oregon so I've seen about every game the last four years and his good friend has been a walk on reserve O lineman on the scout team going up against him in practice every day. Says he's a real beast.

Sounds like a better version of Armstead who wasn't terribly athletic at the combine and didn't have as long of arms as I was expecting given his size. 7 feels a little high to me still and I like Myles Jack a lot if the top 2 tackles and QB's are gone.

Where do you see him not having a motor?...I get it you don't like him, but there is nothing there that says or shows that he doesn't have a motor or like you said earlier that he's soft
IF you think there's a better prospect at 7 or you just don't like him for whatever reason just say that...don't make up stuff like he doesn't have a motor or he's soft.
He beat Joshua Garnett (who won the award for best interior lineman award ans possible the best guard in the country) regularly this year.

I can see Jack going to the Cowboys, IMO he's way too small at 225. I didn't think there would be anyway we'd have a chance at drafting Buckner this time last year...he's my pick if we can't get Goff. Dude is a beast and throw him along with Williams and AA and we will have a dominate DL for years. This draft is chalk full of LBs and if there's one position I'm fine with baalke evaluating it's LB.

I think Jack comes in at 235-240 at the combine. He looks much bigger than 225. If Hue Jackson is hired and he is able to bring Vance Joseph with him as DC, I would love to draft Jack to play in a 4-3 with Bow and Hodges.

???? Armstead was considered extremly athletic. Just a notch under elite. At his size and weight he was still in the 60th percentile for speed and agility if i remember correctly. For a 6'7 292 guy that's incredible.
