Oregon DE DeForest Buckner played over 100 snaps in two different games in 2015

There are a few guys that I would not mind the 49ers getting With there first pick. But if I was the guy choosing I think it would be Buckner. I get the feeling that a base D-line of Armstead Williams Buckner would improve not only the D-line but the defense as a whole. Guys like Spence or Jack or Smith I would totally be cool with drafting but I don't think that they would improve the defense as a whole at their positions as much as a dominant D-line would.

Not that I'm criticizing the guy; I've been a huge fan of his all season.

Why do you say that our d-line would be dominant? Arik never dominated anyone and Deforest grades out as slightly better than him as a prospect. There's potential of doninance if these two develop on a couple years but nothing is guranteed. (See kentwan balmer)
So, with deforest our defense would still be average next year or maybe worst since they will be on the field all day long(see chip kelly's offense)

AA didn't dominant anyone?? Did you watch when they put him on a one-on-one? I'm assuming your basing his play off of sacks because being a rookie teams had to double him...he's only gonna get better with more snaps (only had 384 saps this year). He was in QBs faces all the time and the only thing he needs to learn to do is finish the job.

And did you watch Buckner at all last season and this year he's the best 3-4 DE in the country and it's not even close.

Also why would you even try to compare Balmer who was like the 29th pick in the draft, about 30 LBs bigger than both these guys, not even close to as athletic and was a DT playing DE in the wrong system with us? That's like me comparing Glenn Coffee to Frank Gore lol.

I didn't think we'd be in a position to possibly draft Buckner this time last year lol. Dude is a stud and as we see with the teams in the SB DL is very important if we don't get anyone in FA at DL/OL we should hit both sides of the line hard in the draft

If we could upgrade the o-line in free agency i wouldn't be mad if we scooped up this kid.

This feels 100% like a Baalke pick. Considering how ineffective Dial and TJE were applying pressure, it would be a fantastic pick.

I hate to be devils advocate but I like Ndemchike more. That game against Alabama... he had 5 or 6 "wow" plays. I think he will fall further because of the character concerns.

He's a stud for sure. He the more talented player of the two. If he checks out in the interviews, go for it.

I don't see Baalke going after a wildcard early. He can't afford another suspended player. That would be a huge black eye to the team and would probably seal his fate
