.. and the reason why I'd like to see IF he can play center for us is beacuse I fully believe that he no longer can hold the LT position..

he's done.. he's past his prime.. and I never STATED TO MOVE HIM AT CENTER.. Try reading and understadning.. I asked the question because I've read that he once was a center for his team before becoming a bonafide LT..

WTF dude?

Right?

Anyway, I think Buckner is superior in every significant way to Armstead, and I think Armstead will be a stud.

I agree. Having both in the same DL again would be dangerous.
The only way I'd like to see Buckner taken early is if Baalke upgrades the DL via FA. Armstead and Buckner might be part of a very good DL down the road, but they'll need some top vets to show them how it's done. That's why guys like Wilkerson, Malik Jackson, NT Damon Harrison are critical to rebuild the DL into something really formidable. That's not going to happen with a 2nd year DE, rookie DE and Ian Williams.

Harrison would be great if we don't get Ian back. We still have Dial and another year our of Dorsey. If Ian leaves we very possibly could be planning on starting Dorsey at NT again. We'll need some depth if Dial and Purcell is all we have

What is Harrison bringing to the table that Williams isnt as far as being a veteran?

Is this a case of the grass being greener on the other side? Because its stunning how little credit people are willing to give to a guy who has been one of the very best NTs in football.

Lol exactly. Ian Williams is one of the best NTs in the game, and everything I've heard about him points to him being one of leaders in that locker room. He attributes a lot of how he approached the game to the cowboy.

Playing with the cowboy > anything those "vets" have to offer to others.

Holy crap. What is this post? It doesn't even have to do with Buckner either. I'll take whatever he's smoking.

Nkemdiche's better.

Perhaps you could post a link to support the center comment. My information is he started as a tight end for the Central Michigan Chippewas but was moved to tackle where he has remained. And I don't think he has ever lined up at center for us unless it was on a trick play sometime.
Am I the only one that thinks that Buckner looks like he would be better off in a 4-3 defense? Our defense was most successful when we had a Justin Smith occupying the RDE, not necessarily a pass rusher but someone who is overly physical and can occupy 2 blockers to let an elite pass rusher get to the qb.

Why shouldn't Buckner be able to occupy two guys? He is very athletic and powerful and a superior pass-rusher to AA.
Our defense was working towards the strengths of its players, that's all.

Yes, yes you are.

THIS all day! I don't get not resigning Williams because they feel Harrison is far superior? Williams was a team captain and is well respected in the locker room. He had less talent around him on the DL and played like a stud.

What I don't get is why we haven't resigned him yet

I used to think so myself. In fact as of 2 weeks ago I thought Nkemdiche was a better pick. However I have watched alot more games of Oregon since that time and now would take Buckner no doubt. Just talent alone I think he is far more consistent and Buckner isn't a crazy idiot.
