This is the most likely scenario. With our luck lately, the only top picks for us to choose from would be Stanley and Elliott.

We haven't been lucky with top talent dropping to us since Crabtree I will take Stanley and roll with it at this point (as long as all the top defensive guys are gone).

I wouldn't. If our top guys aren't there and we can't trade down, I would rather take a 7 to 15 guy over Stanley. I would be fine with Elliott if he can turn out to be similar to be an impact like Gurley.

Bosa would play OLB not DE...his 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle were great no problems with converting him...besides we ran out of a 4 man front like 70% of the time last year.

Well that is good except for the fact those coaches aren't around anymore. So not sure you can project anything to this year.

I don't see that changing at all as long as we are still running a 3-4. He would have the same role as A smith did his rookie year while learning the OLB positon, he's not a 3-4 DE in base downs.

Not drafting a RB at 7 to split carries just not happening man. I'm not super high on drafting a OT but you can't deny he's a good talent. I wouldn't hate Lawson either.

I couldnt disagree more. I think Stanley is going to be a stud and can slid over to LT after Staley is gone. The Niners OL was a mess and needs repair in the worst way. I will be happy with Tunsil, Stanley, or Buckner and really believe one of them falls to us.

Bosa is a 4-3 DE. That's his best position.

So was Justin Smith when he was drafted.

Okay, but nobody has Bosa as a 3-4 DE. Why even take on a project like that? Justin wasn't drafted as a 3-4 DE or 3-4 OLB, he was a drafted as a 4-3 DE by the Bengals.

Project? Aldon smith was a DE coming out of college same with a lot of good pass rushers in the NFL. He would play in a similar role like smith had when he was a rookie, bosa has the power you want and plenty of burst (awesome 3 come and 20 yards dash). He's not gonna be a project man.

Aldon Smith had freakishly strong and long arms. Dude put up 19 sacks as a Freshman He got hurt the next year but ended his college career with 23 sacks in 23 games. He pretty much kept that same pace in the NFL with like 42.5 sacks in 43 games until he fell off the wagon. Bosa had a decent Freshman year, solid Sophomore year and a meh Junior year when it comes to sacks. Ended his career with 26 sacks in like 38 games. I don't think he is anywhere close to Aldon Smith in terms of ability to get to the QB. Smith was just that good with his bend and his ridiculously long arms and was absolutely worth taking that early as a pass rush specialist. I don't think Bosa is an elite pass rusher to be honest. I'm hoping for Buckner, Tunsil or a trade back and I highly doubt Bosa will be the pick if he is there at 7.

Bosa is the best pass rusher in THIS draft as of right now regardless. Nowhere did I compare him to smith. I said he'd play in a similar role his rookie year as smith along with being a DE switching positions.

SF did speak with bosa throughout this process and I wouldn't say he wouldn't be the pick if he's there.
Buckner is the pick. Bosa will be a good player in the NFL for 6-10 years, but with development Buckner will be GREAT.

Buckner next to Armstead
Chargers are gonna draft Buckner

I'm hearing SD wants SF to think that so they make a trade.

But I'm saying I don't think he is worth the pick at 7 to switch roles. I think he needs to go to a 4-3 team and be that DE that he is comfortable being. Aldon had elite pass rushing ability that made him worth taking that early and transitioning him to an OLB, Bosa does not, IMO. I think he is the best 4-3 edge rusher, I do not think he would make a better OLB than Lawson or Spence

agree to disagree on that...he tested great in the 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle which shows me he has the quickness to change direction and has plenty of burst. I have NO problem making him a OLB plus we were in 4 man fronts last year around 70% of the time and I don't see that changing much with this new coaching staff.

I think Bosa is talented, I would just rather have Buckner at 7 or get more value for the pick by taking Lawson in a trade back while gaining an extra 2nd. He may be viewed as the best pass rusher in this draft, I just don't think he is elite when it comes to getting to the QB. He was really hyped after last year but came nowhere close to replicating that and looked more like his freshman year than his one breakout season. I thought he was an average pass rusher his first year, looked great year two and looked average again last year
