DeForest Buckner DL - Oregon

Leonard Floyd has to be the quickest OLB but Ogbah has better hands

I like Ogbah but the offseason will be crucial for him in determining if he can be a 3-4 OLB or if he's best suited to be a 4-3 DE.

I think if you went with Buckner in the 1st, that Shilique Calhoun would be a perfect complement in the 2nd if you could get him there.

DeVonte Fields would be a nice get in the middle rounds.

Noah Spence is intriguing, might be the best pure pass rusher in the draft but has had drug issues and you'd likely have to move up into the late 1st for him, though I could see him being a Top 20 pick when all is said and done.
I don't even consider Spence due to the win with class crap.

Ogbah is also much stronger.

Ogbah has the prototypical everything in terms of his physical size and strength, questions remain about his lateral movement and agility. He might just be a guy better suited for a 4-3, that remains to be seen.

I'm really hoping Trent will go after Bruce Irvin in FA. Landing someone like him will give us more flexibility in the draft and landing someone like Buckner would be an awesome addition.

That would be interesting, but what would Irvin's price tag? I am not against Buckner the talent, I just hate Oregon's and the NFL's stupid rule. I think Arik lost a lot of valuable training time and experience having to sit and wait.

We'll see how high the niners draft. Would love to get Bosa, but he is gonna go before the niners's pick.

In the end, as usual, I look at three things, BPA, who is available at the pick and who we can get in FA.

If Bosa is not gone in the top 3 picks then the qualifications to be an NFL general manager really can't be all too strenuous.
It seems the 49ers are only good at drafting defense, so may as well stick with their strength. I honestly thing Gabbert is better than any QB in this draft so we may as well ride him a few years. I hope we don't waste a 1st rounder on Goff, or a WR that would be guaranteed to suck because we drafted him.
Cbs current mock has Buckner going before goff lol

This is possible. Buckner has the perfect size for a 3-4 DE and played really well this last year. The combine and pro day will probably help him because of his size and length.

I'm wondering if Buckner might actually be a really "Baalke" type of pick. The team is getting run over by opposing offenses left and right and that has to reflect some on Ian Williams and Quinton Dial. To that end, what if both your 3-4 DE's were both powerful guys who can occupy blockers and push the pocket? Add to that a combo of Armstead-Williams-Buckner would give two large ends to create space for LB's to operate and free up Dial to fill the role I think he is more suited for (rotational lineman). It's such a Baalke pick.

I say this assuming Goff, Bosa and Tunsil are gone.

I'd love buncker on the DL I think some of the issue with the run game is our LBs and poor tackling as well.
if Ramsey is there, I would rather draft him over Buckner... better yet, lets trade down a bit more and draft the kid from UCLA.. Kenny Clark..

Ramsey is a stud no debate there...Buckner is a very good player in his own right and I'd take him over Clark even in a trade down.
I promise you, we will have the Biggest, Tallest and SOFTEST defensive line in the history of the NFL if we end up having Buckner - Dial - Armstead as the starting DL for years to come..
