Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson - Legit alternative to Jared Goff in 2017?

Curious... what today showed you he is not ready to start day 1?

Watson is the only Qb that's ready to start day 1 over the others
Deshaun Watson final line: 56 passes, 21 runs against THIS defense. Ball in his hands 77 times
Take him at 2
ehhhh I'd still go all in on Myles Garrett.... If we can trade back to say 7-12 I wouldn't mind going Watson. I'm a fan of what he's done and he played well today, just not sure if #2 would be the right move.

Yeah but Hunter Renfrow is the one who shredded Bama today, he's a walk on. Though I agree that his talent is better, I will up your take and say he did it against the best defense in CFB history according to most "experts." I do not believe in one way shape or form mitch could do it.

The reality is that we'll never know. I watched Trubisky lead some huge comebacks and be clutch down the stretch like in the Pitt game but he also never had the benefit of being able to chuck it up into a crowd and have Mike Williams come down with it.

All I know for certain is that Trubisky had a very good season, Watson struggled early on but finished off fantastically and regardless of the order, they will be 2 of the first 3 QB's drafted.
Oh yeah man I agree their one and two. And he did lead some good comebacks and that the person to take advantage of a Watson skill set may have left via firing. But in all reality the sample size of Tribisky is a complete red flag and but picking 2nd overall you have to pull a Carolina Panthers and go with the hot talent like they did with Cam if he's available.

Me personally I would go Garrett if available but if Tribisky is the pick I will remain skeptical. I'm going off sample size and Stanford defense < Alabama defense and Watson killed bamas defense 2 straight years and tribisky struggled vs stanford. To me the true safer pick is Watson.

It is an interesting development.
Both QBs will be compared and cross examined thoroughly with one having three year of success but questions regarding his decision making and wether the talent around him made him better. Trubisky had one great season and was the best player on his team. Questions regarding his small sample size will be his biggest obstacle.

My only point that I have about the talent level around Watson is that QBs make those skill plyers better. Great skill players don't fabricate the excellence of a qb.

Deshaun Watson is the best impact player in college footbal.

In the NFL you're not going to be running a half field offense in most cases. He, Trubisky, Kizer, all these guys ideally should have the time to develop and get up to speed. Watson being experienced in college doesn't necessarily mean he is ready to start in the NFL considering the offense he is coming out of.

He was awesome, and got better as the game went on after taking a beating.

Sad thing is he is the most ready to start of the group of QB's even with all that against him. Seriously would you rather start a guy who only has one season of experience loaded with a lot of up and down play or another guy who couldn't complete 60% of his passes against non ranked teams to start day 1?

None of these guys should be starting from Day 1 if their respective teams are smart.

This.

If you draft Watson nobody should expect to see him for 2 years. If that's the plan trade down a little so we can get something while we wait.

But they were NFL ready INT's.

This Turbisky love is mindboggling.
For real, it's completely insane.

I like Trubisky. And would be happy to have him. But there is no denying Deshaun Watson is an elite QB prospect. Nobody can make a compelling argument for Trubisky to be taken over Watson. It's just personal preference.
Was hoping to trade back into late first to get him...not likely now. If Garrett is off the board, this kid has grown on me.

I agree completely.

Yeah that is what worries me with him. We would probably toss him out there too early. Then again, I thought Mariota would have a hard time adjusting too.
