Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson - Legit alternative to Jared Goff in 2017?

he played well. He looks good in a chicago bears uniform.
First of all, hell of a game! Watson was clutch again! What I like about him is his ice cold veins in a big game. Doesn't seem to get too high or too low. He took some nasty hits but didn't seem to rattle him. I like that when it mattered the most, he made some big time throws. He has the intangibles and just a tremendous leader by example type of a player. I know we will get a very good prospect at 2 and Watson added his name in the conversation for sure imo.

Deshauns score should emphasize how much of a joke PFF is.

This is why I don't even bother with PFF, it's just a way for non football guys to try and control what real football guys do.

Complete joke!

It may take some time for him to adjust to pro offenses and throws.

You mean like McDaniels?

One thing I absolutely love about Watson is how fast his release is. He's got that compact, quick release where the ball just flies out of his hands, on shorter throws it is absolutely lethal at times as defenders just have no time to react.

Yup. Maybe a WCO guy too.

Despite the Clemson offense being funky, Watson does seem to process very quickly. I think he can become a very good dink and dunker once he understands the pro game. I worry about him developing the longer shots. But, at least he's a guy who'll probably put in the effort and still has high confidence.

um, PFF looks at the same thing scouts do: tape. and they dont control anything.
PFF only takes into account performance in context of plays where each play is weighted equally, due to their baseline agreement.
Scouts can and do evaluate prospects in terms of projection of pure talent, measurement, potential in different systems, projection against elite level competition, and so on.

PFF ratings and grades are an amazing tool, but you cannot use them in a vacuum or out of context.

Let's put it this way, if PFF evaluated basketball, Russ Westbrook would never be a top graded guy in college because he never put up great numbers at UCLA. Doesn't mean he wasn't a great prospect- it's just that PFF doesn't attempt to measure how good of a prospect someone is. It's purely performance based play by play.
Also, Mike Williams is definitely a better WR than Watson is a QB (and I like Watson). Williams look to be a pro bowl caliber wideout. Watson has more risks imo.

Williams was one of 4 WRs with over 90 yards receiving. He wasn't even the most productive wr on the day, that goes to Leggett with 95 yards recieved.

Don't know what this has to do with the post I posted.

Explain to me how a qb passing for 420 yards and contributing 4 TDS 0 ints and a 140 QB rating can be rated lower than kaps last game against Seattle?

are you talking about watson ?
kaeps pff grade for seattle game wasnt too high- 66.5. he also didnt make their top 5 offensive players despite starting on fire and having one of his best games ever against seattle.

so I dont know how to explain it to you at all, because watson got a much higher pff grade than kaep.

really, you can read how pff grades on their own site. they in-fact now go-indepth on qb performance (something I dont like, because to me qb thirst is disgusting) in each of their writeup for game grades.

Sorry was looking at this https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-sf-la-grades-kaepernick-does-just-enough-for-49ers-to-win/.

It was against la a game Kap passed for 266 yards 2 TDS and a pick.
I liked Watson and thought he played well at times, but you guys are talking about him like he looked like Sam Darnold did in the Rose Bowl.
Trade up for watson
The #2 pick just got a lot more interesting and valuable.

Are we actually going to witness a good off season?!?!

Don't think I've ever heard that argument before . I'm under 6 feet tall, does that make me small jointed?

I kid of course.
