Is hard to argue with that.
Like you said, 2 x National Championship games in a row.
In both games, he generated over 450 yards of offense each time.
In both games, he threw for over 400 yards.
And may I remind everyone, that was against Bama's top D.
Again, Bama shut down the run game last night and as the QB Watson he had to put everything onto his shoulders in order to win the game.
After Bama's QB ran in their last TD, he only had 2 mins left to make things happen.
And what happened? He kept his poise and pretty much just marched down the entire field almost Joe Montana like and made it happen just like that.
Overall, when you look at both his production and especially his clutchness, it basically tells you this is a winning QB which differentiates him from the rest of the pack.
His poise is the main reason why I wouldn't be upset if we drafted him. Dude is sound.

The hate for this kid is hilarious. No QB in recent history has done what Watson has done to Alabama. Alabama is as close as it gets to an NFL defense. Cam Newton did it once. Watson did it twice.

Watson has the smarts to fully digest a playbook and can make all the throws. He will go top 5 and hopefully a good coaching staff helps him develop further.
How big of a stretch is it? Tebow's college accuracy % was 1 % lower than Deshauns.
Both ran a spread offense. Both had great intangibles where "all they did was win"
I do think Watson is a better player and his career in the NFL is much brighter but the comparison is not that far apart. You think Tebow was stupid and couldn't learn a playbook?
He had some pretty passes in college too. Watson is very hot and cold when it comes to his accuracy. Yes he threw some beautiful passes yesterday. He also threw a bunch that would've been incompletions if not for his WRs making huge plays. He sails a ton of his passes which is very dangerous in the NFL and will get your WRs killed. He threw a ton of quick outs which his guys helped with big YAC plays.

Watson played really well last night, and showed once again that he's a winner. That's something that can't be ignored. He is a playmaker that turns it on when the game is on the line.
That was a really fun game to watch. It's crazy that Jalen Hurts is only a freshman. He's got a bright future (in college, needs a lot of improvement for the NFL) and make some clutch plays.

Who is hating on him?
Some of you guys are just getting carried away by the championship game. Nobody questions how good Watson is in college or his ability to come through late in games and win but it is still college. As talented as that Alabama defense is they're still college kids and some of them will not play in the NFL.
The NFL is a different ball game and the offense Watson will have to run in the NFL will not be as simple as it was in Clemson and the talent around him may not be as good as it was in Clemson(relative to NFL that is)
When you're drafting a QB at #2 overall you have to be damn sure the flaws in him are easy to correct and the strengths far outweigh the weaknesses.
Does he have potential to be elite? Absolutely but there are still concerns about him at the NFL level that should be discussed and stating them is not "hating" on the kid. And the comparison to Cam Newton I'm not sure if it should be taken as a good one.

- NFL Pick 'em
No question, Watson is gutty and played one heckuva game. Have to give it to him for having "it". What this game did do is put the Browns feet to the fire. Can you imagine, a team who has picked what, 4 QBs with their first pick, and how many times has that been the first pick in the draft....or was it 5 QBs ? Hard to keep up with the Browns and their #1 pick QBs. But they still don't have a keeper, and their fans know it. RG3 finished out the last part of the season, and he probably looks to be their best QB out of a bunch of not very good QBs. I can't see how they can do anything other than draft Watson or Trubisk. I think their fans would go crazy if they didn't go QB. You know there will be a massive effort to get the team to get their FR QB.
That helps us w/r/to getting Garrett, a true #2 pick in the draft based on BPA. Sure, we don't have a QB , but as good as Watson looked, he isn't the #1 pick in the draft...nor is Mitch. If we could get either guy further back, well, then ok. But not as #1 thru 5, probably not in top 10. Most likely like Wentz and Goff were rated last yr, #11 and #13. Picking either guy for us is a step backward if we miss on Garrett. So the result of the game helps us, as it puts way more pressure on Cleve to take a QB. I would much prefer to get the guys right now at #75-125, Rudolph, Mahomes, et al and feel good about the guy we got and where we got him. Neither of these guys (incl Kizer) is our guy. Trubisky would be really interesting if he stayed in college another yr. Watson...has he ever taken a snap under center?
We have enough holes at major impact slots to not be able to take a Trubisk or Watson. Now, if Cleve passes on both QBs and takes Garrett, I would be sick, but it gives us then TWO QBs to raffle off to the rest of the league. Cleve taking Garrett just puts us in a better spot to deal on not one, but two of the top QBs in draft. No idea what Cleve will do, but I think we come out of this darn well. Either we get Garrett or we get to see which one of these two green QBs some other team needing QB will offer us. Haven't done the chart yet, but the #2 is worth a lot to us. I would prefer Garrett, but after last nite there will be someone who has to have one of these two guys. Give Watson an A+ for effort, guts, but for us, way too rich at #2.
The downside would be if no one wants either QB and we have to take one or the other at #2 in the draft....and that would hurt us. We just have way too many huge needs to take either QB this early in the draft. Someone will want to trade.

Hue Jackson might be coaching him at the Senior Bowl.

That's right. Cos we all know "poise" is not something that can be taught. You either have it or you don't.

What makes you think Watson doesn't read the whole field. Watch both NCG's and you see him looking off defenders left and right and even improvising. Sounds like blind hatred or pure stupidity.

I believe it's for seniors or red shirt seniors so I think you're correct.

He has all the tools in the world but he's not the best pro quarterback in the draft. He stares down receivers and only reads half the field. I don't want him at 2.
Mitch isn't as gifted but he makes the reads

Whaat?! I never knew about that change.
Thank you, learned something new.
