As an evaluator, you always want to see QBs in big moments to weigh how they handle it. Watson, in 2 NC games, was elite.
No he wasn't he choked because he only used one read all game.

Watson fits the ball in challenging positions, back-shoulder fade, low pass over the middle only the receiver can catch, touch pass over the defender. He also threw the ball into some small windows. I like the kid from North Carolina but Watson has played on the biggest stage against arguably one of the best defenses of this generation. He hangs in the pocket and senses the pass rush. Trubisky is at least a year or two behind Watson right now. What else does he have to do?

Those 2 and he doesn't go through reads.

Watson has the smarts to fully digest a playbook and can make all the throws. He will go top 5 and hopefully a good coaching staff helps him develop further.
How big of a stretch is it? Tebow's college accuracy % was 1 % lower than Deshauns.
Both ran a spread offense. Both had great intangibles where "all they did was win"
I do think Watson is a better player and his career in the NFL is much brighter but the comparison is not that far apart. You think Tebow was stupid and couldn't learn a playbook?
He had some pretty passes in college too. Watson is very hot and cold when it comes to his accuracy. Yes he threw some beautiful passes yesterday. He also threw a bunch that would've been incompletions if not for his WRs making huge plays. He sails a ton of his passes which is very dangerous in the NFL and will get your WRs killed. He threw a ton of quick outs which his guys helped with big YAC plays.

I agree with you with why his INTs went up. I just don't buy discrediting Watson as others are.Originally posted by Phoenix49ers:Originally posted by Dakes44:You were the one who brought up INTs going up. A big factor for Winston is that he was missing his #1 target from the year before in Kelvin Benjamin. The result was more risky throws as he didn't have anyone with close to the same catching radius as Benjamin had, a guy much like Williams who could go up and attack the football in the air.
