Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson - Legit alternative to Jared Goff in 2017?

Love what Deshaun is doing so far but still don't think he's an ideal fit for our offense. The Texans are catering to what he does best which is running around. Plus at one point in the 3rd quarter he was 7-15 with 80 yards passing. I have faith Shanny can find a qb who can execute his game plans at a high level.

One read qb. Most of his throws last night were hail marys.
Game changer however. He does have that it factor. Lets see how long it takes for defenses to figure him out like Kaeernick.

I wouldn't have no clue, I don't give a s**t about the Texans!!!
It's ok to accept that Watson is a good QB prospect Kolohe...just saying
I didn't say he wasn't good, I just thought he wasn't good for Shanahan's offense and I think Shanahan agreed with me.
Perhaps but same thing was said when Texans took him despite many believe not fitting on Bill O'Brien offensive scheme or take a longer time to adapt and learn it.
About his character, has proven is not a typical jock which people has to move around him. Has shown great dedication and humble attitude specially when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, spent effort and money to help the citizens in their time of need.

No they weren't. The play of the game was a perfect throw where he navigated pressure while switching hands to avoid a strip, then tossed one 50 yards in the air while hitting Fuller perfectly for the TD.
His game is nothing like Kaepernick's and never has been. Not like RG3, either.

He's a less-accurate Russell Wilson to me.

That's funny because their completion % is nearly identical except Watson has 4 more passing TD's playing 1 fewer game.

Wilson's career is almost 65%, Watson's is slightly lower that's all I was getting at. Wilson definitely having a down year with next to no one blocking for him. I actually wanted Watson, think he has more of a killer instinct than any of the other QB's taken before him.

Keep in mind that Houston's OL largely sucks, too. Duane Brown still isn't back, and DW4 is having to escape pressure a lot still. They are doing a good job of mixing in jet sweep/orbit motion action to try and keep the pass rush from teeing off, and they are incorporating boots and rollouts just like we did with Young and Montana.

Well Bill O'Brien vision of what type of QB he wants running his offense obviously differ from Shanahan's. FWIW, O'Brien has never really worked with a QB like Watson, maybe he decided to change things up who knows why he went out of his element and chose Watson. But like I've said before O'Brien is calling his offense to Watson's strength's he's not trying to complicate things which is why Shanahan has stated he didn't think a rookie could start from day one in his offense.
In short, to each his own and Shanahan preference is a pocket QB, he's stated that many times. Which is why I knew he wouldn't of drafted Mahomes, Watson or Kizer.

I've seen the light. His noodle arm isn't important, and he will be great. He'll never be asked to throw an "out pattern". Who needs those. I agree.
Give me the QB with "intangibles" (and 30 interceptions over the last two years. Only four teams in college football threw more picks than he did last year. His pick rate is almost double that of Mahomes, and is over double that of Biscuit).
Let's get the guy who wins a lot because "I want winners." (Is Tebow available?)
Oh. Hm.

Missing the point. It's a threshold drill. Higher doesn't mean better, but want to see at least 55 MPH. Below 50 MPH a red flag.
Benjamin Allbright ?@AllbrightNFL
For combine velocity measurement for QBs remember this.
Over 55 mph doesnt guarantee success, but under it pretty much guarantees failure
2 mph ball velocity might not seem like a big deal, but it translates to 3 ft travelled on 20 yd throw in same time frame. Huge NFL window

Please come back with the hot takes in 3(But probably closer to 5) years from now. Heck even 2 or 3 games from now. Watson's first game was practically identical stats wise, and he sure as hell wouldn't be putting up 5 TD games throwing to the Bears receivers.
