Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson - Legit alternative to Jared Goff in 2017?

My guess on the draft next year:
1. Browns
2. 49ers
3. Chargers
4. Bears
5. Titans

If Garrett balls out in 2016, we may not have to worry about anyone trading up with the Browns to draft Watson. And he'd be a decent consolation prize if we do miss out on Watson.

In terms of talent, the Browns and the 49ers are at the bottom of the league by a long margin followed by the chargers. If you look at the other bad teams in the league, they pretty much all have improved since last year (Cowboys and Ravens because they have players back from injury, Titans have loads of draft capital now and a franchise QB, Jaguars made some big acquisitions in free agency). The Bears have some young talent and will get Kevin White back this year to complement Jeffery in an Adam Gase offense. The Chargers are tough to predict because they have one of the best QB's in the league so if they can surround him with any talent, they could bounce back a bit.

Id happily take Garrett but at some point they have to get a QB and I doubt theyd be in position to take Rosen in 2018 unless something goes horribly wrong.

Who knows maybe some QB balls out next year...I mean did we think wentz might be the #1 pick in the draft this time last year?

You said it yourself. We have already fxxked up on Goff and we are pretty much in agreement by right we should be losing a sh*tload of games in the coming season to enable us to draft high again. We just can't pass on Watson again and think Rosen so far ahead plus I don't think Rosen is that good anyway.

Look, let's be real here. We don't know who is taking who, but that doesn't stop people from having discussions. Even if the Rams don't take Goff, the Browns might. Mike Silver is adamant even if Goff is not taken at No.1, he won't get to No.3.

Mike silver is a cal and Hue Jackson homer lol....I will agree if Goff isn't the 1st pick if someone wants him gonna have to move up to #2 most likely.

Some intriguing QB prospects to watch for next year if we don't get anyone this year.

Watson is obviously #1. Luke Falk, Gunner Kiel and Chad Kelly are also worth keeping an eye on. I'm sure some of these guys will fizzle out and some others will climb the draft boards.

Maybe I missed it, but how did we screw up with Goff exactly? Rams made a very aggressive, and by many opinions an overly aggressive play to move up for a QB. People around here, myself included, would have been furious if we gave up that much in draft compensation to ensure our rights to select him.

We lost a ton of games last year, didn't get the opportunity to add many free agents due to skyrocketing values, and therefore need our upper round picks.

Until proven wrong, which I very well may be, I still think Gabbert will excel in Chip's offense, and all this needing a franchise QB stuff will go away after next week.

My issue with Gabbert is that he's turned into another Alex Smith. He's afraid to attack defenses. We'll see if Chip Kelly gets him to believe in himself some more and actually see him attempt to move the chains and not see 3 yard passes on 3rd and 7 80% of the time.

Still...Gabbert is signed for 1 more season IIRC. Last thing I want to see is him having Nick Foles like success next season and then ask for an $18+ mil a year contract.

If he throws for 27 and 2, why would you hesitate in giving him the money? Assuming the tape looks ok, unlike it did with Foles.

Well he certainty has all the tools to be successful. I don't know how he will do with Chip. But I think his check down play last year had more to do with awful coaching. But we will see this September.

check it out a reasonable way to look at things
Don't worry. We'll have the first overall pick.

I was hoping for a QB this year, let them sit, suck badly enough to get Garrett next year, along with throwing down some duckets in FA, that should have had them set for a playoff push in 2017.

I'd put him higher then mariota..he has been under center way more already,,lil less athletic..player stronger competition..more to read passing wise..I feel better touch on the ball..not as strong as an arm the mariota but strong..its close but I think after Watsons Sr year he is going to be a better prospect and sure number 1 pick..Kaaya isn't close..

He's going to be a Junior this year. Hopefully he leaves after this year and we're in a position to get this guy.
