You pigeonhole yourself into one position is when you get hosed big time
Really? How so?

Drafting 100% on need is not going to cut it. You want the team to draft a WR even if the WRs available are 2nd round guys at that spot? What if a great safety, IOL or pass rusher happened to slip to that spot? Still going WR no matter what?
I think with only 1 day 1 pick, and the rest day 3 picks, it would behoove us to look at the small college route. The WR from Liberty, the Safety from Lenoir-Rhyne, shud be there in 4th.rd., Im thinking we shud trade down and gather some day 2 and additional day 3 picks. Go FA with O-Line, and keep what we have at WR (we will get some guys back, but probably loose Goodwin and possibly trade Pettis), a draft pick of this Liberty kid and a resigning of Sanders should fix the WR position finally.

Good point!, I'm thinking we get back the guys we lost to injury, trade Goodwin, and draft a WR in later rounds (like the kid from Liberty), will probably fix the WR position. I think if we stay at #32, we shud go OL, Safety, DE/OLB..Dat order

Who said this? Plus, safety is NOT a bigger need than WR or OG, or even CB IMHO. The play at safety is not hurting this team like the WR and OG position is. IMHO, BPA is lazy and could damage your roster roster long-term. Just look at talent-less roster Baalke left for Shanny and Lynch. It was the result of too much BPA, too much trading back for more picks that resulted in a roster full of cheap "value" BPA 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th round picks (picks that took too long to develop, that needed a lot of "coaching up", or just flamed out all together). Drafting BPA could also hurt your cap depending on how high you draft him. What if the BPA is at QB at where we draft in the 1st? Are you telling us that we draft him anyway. Or, how about RB. You seriously think we should draft a RB in the 1st because he's the BPA? Or how about yet another interior D-lineman? Do we draft yet another D-lineman in the 1st if he's the BPA? Or how about an EDGE rusher, even though the investment we have in Dee Ford (including his 2020 $13.65mil in base salary & $16.1mil cap hit if we cut him)?

Look, given that we don't pick again until the 5th round I think we should do all that we can to trade out of that pick to recoup some picks. But trades require a willing party. So if we cannot get out the pick then it needs to be a WR, OG, or even CB, IMHO. This roster is not devoid of talent across the board like it was the way that Baalke left it (who was heavy on BPA). But picking BPA would be a serious mismanagement of draft capital, in particular when we don't have another pick til the 5th and if the BPA is at a position of strength for us. Remember, Solomon Thomas was a BPA pick, but with a plan to play out of position that never worked out. I think Shanny and Lynch learned that lesson.

No Sir If there were ever a draft in which BPA should be shelved (for the 49ers) the 2020 draft is it.
Absolutely we should take DL or Edge if bpa.

Dude, you said it lol. You said the top pick needs to be a WR.
Favorite draft thread because we have to be realistic on who we can get. I'd just like a few guys that can contribute immediately with ability to start if necessary. That description screams 2nd to 5th round. The UDFA market should be big for us as well.
ANTONIO GANDY GOLDEN; WR - Liberty

It's scary to think of having this guy and Jalen Hurd on the outside while Deevo runs around underneath !!!

There's a starting FS (Geno Stone) in Iowa who will be a 2nd day draft but I really like the way this kid play... he's just one of those players that comes to play

Omar Bayless- WR Arkansas St.
6-3 205lbs
Guy just blew up in his Senior season, led nation in recieving with 1653 yards and 17 TD's, will be interesting to see what he does in one of these all star games against better competition and at the combine.

Malcolm Perry- QB Navy
5-9 190 Lbs

To play in the East/West Shrine game as a WR.
Looks like a Shanahan type player, can play QB/RB/WR/KR, has Lamar Jackson esque shiftiness. Rushed for 1804 yards this year with 21 TD's.
These runs in this video 🤤
Maybe a Tyreke Hill and Hardeman type player.

LeVontae Bellamy, RB, Western Michigan

A Day 3 Shanny type of RB.
