Yeah, each downfield dime he throws off of his back foot while absorbing a huge hit looks lucky as hell, until you realize how many times he's done it and how well the ball is placed. Silly.

Doesn't make any sense. I've seen plays where's both feet are perpendicular to the field and he still nails a perfect throw downfield.

Uncommon arm talent and guts for days. One of the writers joked that he should change his name to Patrick Cajones.

This guy is exactly what Shanahan wants - a pure thrower with no fear. I'm up to pick him in the 2nd (if he lasts!).

So he is mechanically sound?

Mahomes has terrible mechanics and footwork but still has a rocket arm with crazy accuracy. His future coach will have a lot of work to do, if Mahomes has a good head on his shoulders then they are fixable problems. Petty had the same bad mechanics but he didn't have anywhere near the arm strength or accuracy on deep passes. Petty would crumble anytime he got pressure while Mahomes would extend plays with his feet or eat a hard hit while making an accurate throw 40 yards downfield.
Okay thanks. The shabby mechanics and air-raid system is probably what I noticed with both. We'll have to see as the draft process progresses if he proves to be a viable option. I'm definitely going to study up a little more that's for sure.

Based on the report GhostOfBaalke gave it sounds like he has a long way to go.

So? Every QB in this draft class has a long way to go.

Yeah I agree. Give the guy 3 years if he's gonna look like a stud out there day one.

Mahomes is a project but some of the things I like about the kid.. big arm, good accuracy with all throws, patient, and Hes a slinger who isn't scared to throw and take a chance. He needs development with footwork and where he holds the ball because he does tend to hold it low. His release is fast and has great wrist action when throwing down field. I'd love to take him in the 2nd round. Also think about this. A lot of these other qbs in this draft have big name WRs.. what wr on his team is even being considered to be drafted...

This. If he does great in the interviews, I'm all for taking him and giving him 2 years for the coaches to work with him.

I noticed two things heat pump fakes to get the defense to react period we haven't had a good pump fake in 10 years. The other thing I noticed was justin Stockton has straight Wheels

I don't remember Shanahan saying mechanically sound. I do remember him saying 85 times he wants a beer thrower

Here's a mixed, athletic kid with a big arm who scrambles, so he must be a Kap clone. Nevermind that he scrambles to pass, runs less, throws more, looks off safeties, drops touch passes in the cover 2 hole, and changes throwing platforms to avoid deflection by pass rushers. There are numerous examples of him going through progressions (Google is your friend), changing plays at the LOS, and manipulating coverage. Look harder.
That can go both ways I see a kid that plays backyard football misses easy plays, doesn't go through progressions (or really have to in that system), throws off his back foot a lot, doesn't have the footwork in general needed to run a WCO, while he does seem to scramble with his eyes down field, he scrambles when it's not needed.
He's got a great arm and their are intangibles that can't be taught be needs work a lot of it for our system. I'm not throwing the 34th pick on him for that.
What tangibles can throw a player open? can pump fake a defense to react? Or maybe that he continuously reads the field the whole field? Or maybe it's the fact that he has a cannon? Or the fact that he has touch? Those are traits that I wanted a quarterback on this team. Besides crazy accuracy that he also has
