Patrick Mahomes QB

Shoot, Shanahan might not even like him. I do, and if Shanahan does too, they should go get him. IF he's going to be a pro bowl QB, then he's more important than anyone else in the draft. I think he is. I was pumped when I though we could steal him at 66, still pretty excited when I thought we could snag him at 34, and bummed now that it seems like a lot of the internet is on his nuts. If he's the guy, you go get him. You might not ever have another chance to get your favorite QB in a draft.

Boy your getting blinded by the mahomes glasses lol...it's cool to like a player but come on. The whole going after a player you like vs sticking to the BPA concept (when your team blows) is a good way to end up with locker/EJ Manuel/ponder guys (not saying he will be that).

FYI I don't think Cleveland or any NFL team gives two craps about "Mr Ohio" stuff. If mahomes is who you think he is the Browns should be drafting him at one.

Blowing a top two pick on a project qb playing out of a gimmicky offense...horrible way to start a new HC/FO imo.

Then they redo the deals w/signing bonuses and year 2 guarantees, pushing their cap hits to later years, when they'll get cap relief from the decrease in cost for Cousins, once his year one balloon payment is off the books. Easy.

And LOL at Snyder being reasonable. Like, ever.

lol trashing his team long term?...how about we just sign him to a high contract you know like Washington currently won't do? Why won't they sign him LT now then? You think because we go after him they all of sudden decide to sign him to the contract he's been looking for?

???

There's a new 5 year offer on the table that they extended to him. If it isn't signed, it's not b/c they didn't want him. They're already keeping him when he wants to leave this year, and they're paying a premium to do it. They have a mechanism by which to keep him as long as they want to, if they want to.

How has Snyder never hurt his team long term by meddling? Giving a crazy, fat, and disinterested Albert Haynesworth an oil tanker full of cash? Throwing $80MM (40 guaranteed) at a CLEARLY over-the-hill Donovan McNabb? Dude's bat-sh1t. I don't put many reckless decisions past him.

Maybe you missed the part where I said Shanahan might not like him, and the Browns might not like him. It would take a pretty confident coach to weigh the potential against the deficiencies and decide that's your guy. I get that. Kyle strikes me as a pretty-damn-aggressive guy, who'd rather have a shot at excellence than a certainty of safe and competitive. I don't think Hue is making the call in Cleveland (I think he wanted a QB last year), but I'm pretty sure Shanahan is making the call in SF.

Did you read the offer...it's all fluff and low guarantees it's not even close to a real offer and is a insult

The Washington Post reports the Redskins haven't made Kirk Cousins an offer since February.

Per reporter Mike Jones, the Redskins are still offering "roughly" $20 million per year and "low guarantees." In real-world terms, it's a boat load of money. In franchise quarterback terms, it's an insult. The Redskins are not going to win Cousins back without significantly sweetening their offer, something dictatorial front office power struggle winner Bruce Allen seems loth to do. Mar 30 - 6:39 PM

If he was gonna give him a buttload of money why hasn't he done it? Why did he get tagged last yr and this? That's basically throwing money away based on it being guaranteed.

That's not based off when they will be drafted or his big board...it's based on how they will be in the NFL career wise

...and he placed him at #5 overall. All positions. #5. That's like saying he'll be the 5th best player in this draft, which is like saying he's a top 5 player...

no lol. read the main post. He thinks mahomes talent will translate to the nfl very very well. in fact he thinks he has the 5th best chance to translate the best out of everyone. please re read the post

Dude. Extrapolate some. If his game translates better to the NFL than all but 4 other players, wouldn't that make him the 5th best player in the draft, all said and done? Isn't that what you want in a QB? A guy who plays well in the NFL? If he has the 5th best career in the draft class, we'd view him as the 5th best player in this draft, after his career. MD even said, he's putting his cards on the table in that post. He's listing the guys he thinks will be the best. I get that it's not a mock. Tennessee doesn't need a QB. But hey, if you need a QB, and you're at #2, why is it a bad idea to get the top QB, who also happens to be the guy that's gonna have the 5th best career in the draft class, regardless of position?

im not saying its a bad idea never did lol. I like mahomes, if we go qb anywhere in ther draft I hope its him. he has the highest ceiling. If we dont go qb at 2 i want hooker

I also read somewhere the Kyle isn't just gonna draft a qb to draft a qb he's gonna be patient...if mahomes is there at 34 I think that's a more realistic plan

You're assuming he doesn't turn out to be a franchise QB. How high would you select D Carr if he was in this years draft and and already knew he would be playing like he is? I'm not saying Mahomes is Carr, although I think he is the best comparison. I think its a risk they take if they think Mahomes could turn out to be a quality QB.

I enjoy reading your posts NY, honestly, but no way in hell Mahomes is there at #34 ! I believe he'll be in the top 10.
Chris Simms, Kyle Shanahan's BFF, says PM is his favorite QB in the draft and the most likely to become a star.
