Patrick Mahomes QB

His success will come from how he does above the neck. boom or bust

Go look at other qbs playing in the air raid...most have high TD to INTs ratios with high comp %

Most Air Raid QBs don't (or can't) go downfield nearly as much as Mahomes, which I think was his point w/the bolded.

And most had below average arm strength.
Matt Miller is lazy with his comps. Paxton Lynch was also Blake Bortles last year for him. Lynch is completely different than Mahomes in almost every way. Pretty silly.

Go look at the all time stats as far as TD vs INT ratio and yards and see what system they played in....pretty sure we just had a qb on the team that had a rocket arm and could throw the ball down field

He's a good football player but I'm not bringing up stats with him based on that

How's he really that different? Both played in similar offenses, both have huge arms, both are athletic and make plays out of the pocket, both have poor mechanics, both need to learn NFL offenses and have no experience with drop steps/going through progressions.

Very different offenses.....

BTW, Lynch's coach Fuente is V-Tech's coach (Jerod Evans).

Even in college was never a very good passer. The promise with Kap was developing him into a duel threat QB that no one could stop. Mahomes is the more prototypical passing QB. Has the Arm and touch. Just needs to show he can master a more complex NFL system and improve decision making.

I'm replying to what he said regarding him being able to throw downfield so much without getting INTs.

fast up tempo offenses that throw a lot of screens/rollouts. Both don't require the QB to go through a ton of progressions and try to keep things simple. They don't take snaps under center a lot of empty back fields/spreading the field.

Cmon bro... Mahomes has much more touch and deep ball accuracy than Lynch. Just look at how Mahomes lays it in there when he can. Lynch is more like Kap. Stiff and just throws s**t as hard as he can.

Paxton Lynch threw only 3 passes over 40 yards haha, does that sound like the same offense as Mahomes?

These are two of their better games. Do these two QBs really look similar to you? And do they really look similar to Blake Bortles out of college?

You know you just described just about every QBs college offense in this draft?

not luck, Winston, Matt Ryan, Flacco etc...I'm not saying you can't draft a QB from a gimmicky offense BUT at two you'd better be ready to sit him for a yr to learn. Most teams don't do that.

They both avg 8.5 ypa their last season? Both had great TD to INT ratios and both were very accurate (Lynch had a higher comp %) BOTH need to learn a pro offense both didn't take snaps under center both didn't have much as far as progressions go.

I think Mahomes is a much better pure thrower, but there are a ton of great arm QBs that fail because they can't understand the system...it took Matt Ryan a yr to learn Kyle's offense. Mahomes is gonna get over-drafted based off hype and the incredible ceiling. I'll I'm saying is his floor is very s**tty. I'd rather go with a safer player with our high picks and build the team elsewhere. THEN go all in on a QB next yr.
