Mahomes definitely needs a year to be coached up, but the thing he has that a lot of other QB's don't is instinct. Shanahan has gotten the most out of QB's where ever he has been. If he can teach Mahomes to play within the pocket, but also allow Mahomes instincts to take over when plays break down, Mahomes will be a top 5 QB in the league.

I mean there's no question that if Shanahan does in fact like what he sees in Mahomes then I'm sure he's willing to take on that challenge to coach him up. But judging from the past QB's Shanahan has wanted to draft and worked with, I just don't see Shanahan too intrigued to work with a QB like Mahomes. Everyone is enamored with Mahomes arm strength but I just don't think Shanahan is all that giddy about a QB who moves around too much in the pocket, bails from the pocket instead of reading the field not to mention needs work on his mechanics. Again, I just don't feel he's what Shanahan is looking for in a QB nor do I think he's a fit for his offense.

But you're also sounding like the player he is now, is the player he's going to be forever.

Thing is when you develop certain tenancies they will be tough to shake in your NFL future. For instance, if you have a tendency to bail from the pocket a lot more early than you should have, that's tough to shake in the Pro's, especially for mobile QB's. I've yet to come across a mobile QB in the NFL that has fixed his poise in the pocket from college to Pros. Some might say Mariota but it could be argued that a lot of his passes or yards are made outside of the pocket - but save for another thread. I'm talking about the likes of RG3, CK, Vick or even Tyrod Taylor, all who move around a lot outside the pocket but have had a hard time adjusting to the Pros inside the pocket. Can Mahomes develop into a drop back passer and be consistent from the pocket, sure, but I wouldn't spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on him to find out.

Nice explanation. That's all I wanted to know I'm sure some others will like knowing how you feel about him. He went 4/4 on game changers lolz. Vs Kaaya and Webb.

Personally, I love it. It saddens me that regions don't have distinct accents anymore.

As for Mahommes, QBs do get hot as the draft approaches, and although he is my preference at 34, I won't cry if he goes earlier. It's either QB, DE or OLB at 34.

I love accents as well. And I agree with the bold.

One thing I miss from the early 2000s was when my friends and I would travel all over the U.S. for Madden Tournaments..and there would be others who were doing the same... and we'd all meet up sometimes for side betting games and just convo and laugh at our differences. Ask each other about store chains and laugh at the names. "what the hale is a Walgreens???"

ugh, had a dream last night that we had a mulatto QB. guess it'll be this dude.
Looking more and more likely that Mahomes is going to be a top 10 selection. Jets and Bills expressing huge interest, and the Bills sent their owner to the private workout at Lubbock. Could end up being a top 5 pick if the Bills, Chargers want to jump ahead of the Jets.

Trubisky's name is also hot. This always happens right before the draft. QBs rise as teams try to find their future franchise QB.

Can't rule out the Browns getting wild and taking him #1 either.

Very realistic that Trubisky and Mahomes go top 10. That puts the Cardinals in a real tough spot. Watson not a fit for them, Webb sucks, would be forced to way overdraft Kizer.
If the Browns really are stuck between Mitchell and Myles, they can trade up to #2. I'd take 33 and their 1st next year, which would allow us some security in waiting for Cousins. If he re-ups with WAS, we can use the Browns pick (probably #1 overall) and ours (probably top ten) to secure the top QB in the draft. If Allen comes out, he could push Darnold for #1. Allen is as wild (and talented) as Mahomes, but he's 2-3 inches taller and has another year to mature his game. Darnold has a bit of a wind-up, and he benefits by being surrounded by USC talent, but the guy processes well, stays calm as hell, and has an arm. Either could emerge as a monster by this time next year. If Cousins ends up as a 49er, that CLE pick would be gold as a trade commodity.

edit: errr, uhhhh... something about Mahomes: if the 49ers secure Cleveland's 1st next year in a trade back, I'm cool passing on Mahomes. I love him as a prospect, but they'd have the ability to wait on Cousins, which would apparently make the HC happy, with the insurance to go FQB at the top of the draft. We could get Barnett or Davis at 12 as we build a roster that would support the new QB (sucks for Hoyer that he'd take the lumps and get dumped, but he'd be a well-payed sacrificial lamb).

Its definitely still a possibility they take a QB at 1. Looking like either Trubisky or Mahomes won't be there at #12 where they pick

He and Trubisky are getting a TON of buzz to the Jets at #6. If Trubisky goes before 6, Mahomes could go to NY.
Gruden thinks he's the top QB in the draft.

He's also a QB that lives to show off and will go off script. I get the feeling that goes against the controlled he runs.
It's seems more and more probable that Mahomes will not be a niner. I am very disappointed. Big first mistake by lynch and shanny, there is not any garantee that next year we will land Cousins or be in position to grab a top QB
