Patrick Mahomes QB

"Kyle Shanahan went on the record saying arm talent is the best way to win in the NFL at the quarterback position.

"There's a very natural ability in the throwing and if you don't have that, it's very hard to succeed in this league," Shanahan told beat writers after last Thursday's press conference. "You are always looking for one of those seven throwers on the planet, whatever that number is. I'm guessing there's only around seven.""

The writer then unfortunately pointed this out.

"I remember hearing this in my time in Cleveland: Shanahan demanded quarterbacks play within his system. Chief among the many reasons Johnny Manziel wasn't able to see the field much his rookie year, was that he had a penchant for leaning on unscripted plays. This could be a total turnoff from Shanahan and Mahomes could be crossed off the list sooner than some realize."

Kyle just doesn't seem like a fan of the guys who didn't come from a pro style offense with sound mechanics. Shannys weren't crazy about RG3 abilities and doesn't sound like he was crazy about Manziels either.

There's a significant difference between having a knack for turning a broken play into a big gain and rarely throwing on schedule because you aren't well-versed in the playbook or lack the processing speed to run the conventional offense. Mahomes isn't Manziel. He's shown the ability to throw in rhythm when he has protection and open receivers. He does have a lot of that Big Ben instinct in him, to pass up short, easy completions within the framework of the play to extend the play and compete past the sticks with a riskier throw. He's also stated that strategy and execution change when you can expect to secure a win with 30 points, as opposed to routinely needing 50+ to compete.

I agree, there's a difference with how Mahomes would go off script and Kap would go off script. Mahomes would try to make the risky big throws rather than the checkdowns at times. While Kap would go off script by escaping the pocket when not necessary .

If Shanny sees Mahomes as the FQBotF, then I'm absolutely advocating the #2 pick.

If Kyle sees a FQB in this draft then take him and mic drop. I don't care that we might've been able to get him later. I don't care if 2 seems like a reach for Biscuit or Mahomes. The value of a FQB >>>> #2 pick in the draft. Kyle certainly knows more about what it takes to play NFL qb than I do, and probably most others. Don't trade up. Don't trade down. Don't play the value game. We've "earned" the right to take almost any player in this draft that we want. If Shanny sees a FQB staring at him? Take him.

This! Take him at 2 and don't get cute. I don't think he will last past the Jets at 6. Cardinals/Texans could easily trade up with the Titans and pick him. His hype is ' redonkulous' for a reason. I also think Mahomes, Trubisky & Watson will all be gone before Cleveland picks at 12. If they want one of those 3 QB's, they have a dilemma. Draft a QB with the #1, trade up to the Jets or earlier, be ok with Kizer/Webb in the 2nd round, if they haven't been selected already or wait til next year and lose out again.

Literally the difference in madden when people jet with their QBs and you figure it out, and the dudes like myself that killed it with reading the field and scrambling to have a nice window to pass it lolz. Wilson obviously one of the goats already. I'm over the dislike of him. Gotta give credit, he's a baller in a piss poor offensive system. OL in shambles.

Yea man I'm scared of the day that Seahawks finally give him a pocket to throw it in. He might be permanently f**ked by the time that happens tho

Here's hoping!
Mahomes was selected #2 overall today by the 49ers in Inside the Pylon's writers mock.

But yes of course... keep effing up Seahawks. If they don't go OL in the first I'm more than okay with it.
I love that the Mahomes hype train is picking up steam on the zone

My favorite QB in the class

Mahomes whenever, find that big ZWR (my choices: Mike Williams if possible, Corey Davis, Josh Gordon, or Krishawn Hogan), and a COP back for Hyde
The offense could be set in 1 year if this OL works in the new scheme!

I hope we find the right guys for Saleh's defense

so how is he different than Kap besides a better delivery...does he see the field better?

Whole field progressions with NFL route concepts. Throws from multiple platforms, at varying speeds, with good ball placement. Loves studying football.

Keep it simple and logical. if kyle think of Mahomes as one of the 7 prophets 😉 Aka special qb's he'll draft him #2 if not he'll be gone befire the 2nd round...
