Patrick Mahomes QB

Mahomes definitely is more intriguing that trubisky. i like watson too but i wouldnt be upset at all at getting this dude
I'm ready to be labeled by the haters a Mahomer! Sign this dude.
He's growing on me, I dismissed him as gimmicky and too much of a project. I hate his mechanics, when he sets his feet his accuracy is much better, but he just slings it out with his arm and can get wayward.

I'm now seeing a kid who really wants to be great, I think he will work his butt off. I can see him sitting one year, having a mixed year starting year 2, and then being great.

My issue at #2 or even after one trade back, is that you can't pick up another QB for about 5 years as you're all in on the kid. I think it's literally the only risk Lynch & Shanahan can't take this year.

I would strongly consider it if he was in range of #34 but I really don't think he will be. I just hope he goes to the AFC.

You can still get QB's in the 3rd or 4th rounds in a couple of years. Ideally, you would want to get one in 3 to 5 years to continue another 3-year development in case Mahomes is too difficult to retain or doesn't work out after 6 years.

You're right, but most of those would be development and backup types.

I'm talking about it distracting you from others, would mean no Cousins, no shot at Darnold, Falk or Rosen.

I think Lynch and Shanahan will be able to make 1 QB mistake, as long as they've moved on and got someone else in place by year 3 and we show signs of improvement. My issue with Mahomes is you'll spend a year or two of that time with him holding a surface pro.
i personally like that hes a gunslinger. we've had timid qbs for too long. Kap didnt throw it til the dude had atleast a 2 second window most of the time and smith is another story all together. I want a gambler who is right most of the time. this dude seems to fit that bill

You got to sit this guy for two years if he comes here. He'd be a good QB from the get go in year 3. Too raw just like Brett Favre.
Rumor has it we picking him at #2 according to walterfootball. Mahomes also said he one more visit but could not name the team. I think it was us.

The Skins took Cousins in the 4th round of the same draft they too RGIII......
As I said three weeks ago, "With the first pick in the 2017 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns select Patrick Mahomes, quarterback, Texas Tech".

This would be super bittersweet for me. On one hand we get Garrett, on the other hand we miss out on my favorite qb this year lol.
1. PATRICK MAHOMES, Texas Tech (6-2, 225, 4.81, 1): Third-year junior with a 13-16 record. "I may be crazy but when I watch his tape, just as a scout, I get excited," one personnel man said. "He's a guilty pleasure. We all have biases. Going in, Texas Tech, dink, dunk, dink, dunk, this guy cannot translate. I left saying, 'Love this guy. He's so much fun.' He pulls plays out of his (expletive) like you wouldn't believe. It's not dink and dunk. He believes in his arm so much that it's a problem sometimes. He's not ready right now. I'm not comparing him to Aaron (Rodgers), but that natural sense of making plays when they break down is unusual. Now can he make plays from structure? That's why he's not a top-10 pick." Finished with 63.5% completion rate and NFL passer rating of 103.8. Also ran for 820 yards and 22 touchdowns. "He is a great kid and willing to do everything," said another scout. "But he's playing in this gunslinger spread offense (expletive) that no quarterback has ever succeeded from, really." Father, Pat, compiled a 42-39 record as an MLB pitcher from 1992-'03. Scored 24 on the Wonderlic intelligence test. "He has the best arm of the group but he plays crazy," a third scout said. "I don't even think 'gunslinger' is the right word. He's reckless. … I remember seeing (Brett) Favre in his bowl game his senior year. In that game he had three or four plays you thought were a little off the wall. Mahomes might have 20 plays in a game where you go, 'What are you doing?'" Drafted as a pitcher by the Tigers. From Whitehouse, Texas.
