Patrick Mahomes QB

Mahomes is a "guilty pleasure" - perhaps the best draft profile ever, and wonderfully accurate, lol.
You know, if you're after a true franchise QB might as well swing for the stars. Mahomes has the highest ceiling of any QB in this draft by far.

I like that thinking, I still don't think he's worthy of #2, but in a trade back I'd listen

Might have to take him #2 since he is getting projected anywhere from #6 to #30.

They'll have to take him at #2. If they think he is their FQB, don't screw around. Anybody could take him after #2. With the players on the board after Garrett, pick #2 is the same as pick #10. Lynch/Shanny have said mutltiple times 'we're not playing scared'. Pick him Lynch!

yup, if shan sees it in him.. pull the trigger. Hope he's right, just like I hope the Mahomes hype train is right.
I had it all wrong. I figured Shanny wasn't crazy about Mahomes because of the offense he ran in college and lack of comparable pro tape he could watch. Then ran across an article I completely forgot about. His two favorite QBs in 2014 were two guys who ran air raid offenses. Derek Carr, and Jimmy G.

This might really happen unless someone reaches hard.

"Everybody wants a quarterback,'' he said. "You've just got to hope that there is one and you always take the guy who gives you the best chance to win, and usually that's a quarterback but it could be a D-lineman. Everybody wants to have a great quarterback right away, but if it were easy to have one, everyone would have one.''

"Kirk is a natural thrower who's fearless and lets it rip,'' said Shanahan. "(As for) guys who can process and go fast in the pocket, Kirk's as good as anybody."

On jimmy g

"He was a very good thrower,'' said Shanahan. "Tough guy, kept his eyes down the field, could get rid of the ball fast. "

Seems to always point out throwing as being the most important asset

Didn't know Derek carr played in that type of offense. This makes me feel better.

They say it's a spread offense, as opposed to Mahomes air raid offense. But if you watch them it's basically the exact same thing. Shotgun every snap, bunch of wide receivers go out, lots of quick short passes.
Toot toot, all aboard the Mahomes train!

Pat can do with ball what big ben does. There's playoff-winning potential with pat which, to me, is all but absent in the rest of the QBs.
Look at the throws which change nfl games, and the ballers who make them; those guys are not in this draft, save mahomes.
I keep coming back to big ben--thats the passer i see.

The rest of them? Nah.
Watson? Downfield, nfl passes? Basically, shows nothing that will take over a nfl game.
Mitch? A good, vanilla player. Alex smith-like.
Webb? Has a chance to be something, but many times shows you, "i dont have IT factor"
Kizer? Looks the part, just like hackenberg looks the part. No "it" factor. I have no faith he will be playing for championships.

5 years from now, pat will likely be kicking ass.
These other guys will giving excuses why they are not.
So what would the the general reception be if Mahomes was our first pick at 2? I say a lot of shock with some anger but excitement at the same time.

I'd be excited. Shanny knows how to evaluate talent better than anyone on this board. If he felt he could do something special with him or any qb then I'm all for it.

My underpants would be pregnant.

He played mix offenses in his career, pro style as well as spread. Neither played in a traditional Air Raid but spread offenses that involved a lot of shorter passing.
