Courtland Sutton WR SMU 6'4 220lbs

He and Harold appear to be guys that could be top 5 or fall out of the first round, depending on the pre-draft process...

I really like this dude. He's the guy I hope we get in the draft. He has the size, good speed, good hands, and knows where the sticks/sideline is at when he catches the ball. I feel he is the redzone threat we've needed for a long long time.

Thanks for the video.Looks like a freak athlete who puts team first and leaves his ego at home. He sounds way coachable and has the right attitude to develop into a star.

I did some research on Sutton and Auden Tate and their schools. Sutton put up big numbers in 2017...his school, SMU was 71st ranked in terms of strength of schedule. His QB, Hicks, threw for almost 3500 yds, 32 TD's and 9 picks. Tate's school, FSU, had the 11th ranked strength of schedule. His numbers were definitely not eye-popping...but, his QB, Blackman only threw for 1997 yds with 15 TD's and 11 picks. Big difference. SMU avg 38.5 pts per game...FSU just 22.1. My point is Sutton had far more opportunities to make plays in the very offensive-oriented AAC conference against lesser competition. Tate had far fewer opportunities in a very down offensive year at FSU with a very tough schedule. Both are very talented, big WR's. If Tate played in an offense like Sutton did, I think his numbers would be similar. I'd draft Tate over Sutton because he's a more physical receiver and also played against much better competition.

A year ago, Francois threw for 3350 yards and Tate still only had 409 yards. Sutton's QB threw for less than 3000 and he had over 1200 yards. That's an awful lot of love for a WR who hasn't had 500 yards in a season in college. Not to mention Sutton is a vastly superior athlete and Tate doesn't create much separation in his routes because he's more of a straight line build up speed guy. His numbers would be nowhere near Sutton's if he played for SMU and had to deal with the defensive attention Sutton faces (constantly doubled).

Even with Florida State only throwing for 2200 yards, 464 is a terrible receiving total for Tate this year. He's not even the team's leading receiver (Murray had over 600 yards), but somehow you like him more than a guy who will likely be drafted in the first round because he's a little bigger.

They're similar in the red zone, but you're not drafting Sutton purely to be a red zone threat. Sutton is faster, quicker, and a much better RAC threat. His ceiling is probably higher than any other WR in the class. Tate is more than a year younger than Sutton and almost 2 years younger than Ridley, but he'll never be that type of athlete.

Are the Demons drafting him?

The Kap-to-Sutton connection will take over the XFL in 2018.

I don't know if it's an illusion from the backplate he wears, but Sutton looks so damn big on tape. Dude looks like he could be a TE. I wouldn't be surprised if he measured in bigger than what he's listed.

His route-running is poor. I will be suprised if he comes here, unless he drops into the bottom of the 2nd/3rd.

Ridley>>>Sutton, I like Gallup over him as well.

Many said the same about Alshon Jeffery when he was at SC
After watching Dallas Goedert a little, I'm more inclined to take him over Sutton -- I know, different positions, but they both present RZ threats, which is what we need.

The draft process will be huge for Sutton. If he can win the underwear Olympics, he has a good chance of going top-10 like Corey Davis did.

Yup, let your TE be your 3rd down/RZ security blanket. Get all the shifty, sure handed, route running, home run threats at WR. Unless, of course, Allen Robinson cam be had on a 1 year prove it deal

i totally agree with you re his route running. he almost always tips his play. plus one thing that really caught my eye is his body language. when things don't go his way and especially when SMU was down he would go into "pout" mode. Perfect example is watch the Bowl game. Hell he stopped hustling & was like "fk this" . while is counterpart Quinn was hustling all the way to the end, and ran much better routes. IDK about him. more of a project. i wouldn't expect him to come in and do much in his first year.

One problem... Sutton is a first round talent.... Ridley isn't.
