Courtland Sutton WR SMU 6'4 220lbs

I don't think so, either. People like to throw around Julio Jones'name for whatever reason, but Sutton doesn't sniff Julio's athleticism. Julio was also further along as a route runner coming out than Sutton is. Sutton is fluid running in a straight line, but he shows stiffness changing direction. He doesn't sink and contort his body well. He kind of reminds me of Alshon Jeffery.

Julio is a freak. Insane athleticism, insane body control and he's become a proficient route runner. Bringing his name up in every ~6'3" 220 lbs WR's thread should be a bannable offense.

I agree. Alshon Jeffery is a very fair comp, tho I think Sutton is a little faster.

I wish this guy was better. We are in need of a big bodied playmaking WR. We got plenty of average to small WRs on this roster. He's a first round talent -- but I'd be really cautious using a top 10 pick on him. I don't think he has proven he can bring that level of impact on a consistent basis. He's not Julio Jones. I hope I'm wrong, because this offense could use somebody who brings more height to the position.
I'm just hoping people fall in love with him. I need Ridley to slide so we can snag him. We need a play making receiver period. I could care less about the body type. Unless you are just in favor of that style, so be it, but it is no guarantee to winning football.
With how much Shanny emphasizes separation, I can't see him liking Sutton. Sutton doesn't separate well at all. Sutton's route running is crude. You see a lot of lazy, rounded routes on tape. I don't think he's got a good understanding of how to setup DBs, either.

Ridley is a lot more like the Shanahan archetype.

I agrreeeee
We need bigger receivers. With our current core, i hold my breath with every relatively big hit cause they're all so small.
looks slow.

ya, but we got Goodwin as our deep threat. This guy would be a beast in the redzone.
If you want a big-body red zone threat, go to this thread: http://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/nfl-draft/189126-dallas-goedert-te-south-dakota-state/

This x 10.
Too bad we drafted Thomas instead of Corey Davis

Clearly a team with no QB should prioritize WR over upgrading the trenches.

I know...Davis is just tearing it up
