Like this kid...currently the 40th overall player in the draft though. There are some quality NTs in this draft

Danny Shelton, also from Washington, has come around at NT for the Browns this season after O'Neil took his potato defense to the 49ers.

They've done a hell of a job recruiting quality NT's, right now they have Vea and Qualls who are both expected to be high picks whenever they come out.

yup they've put out some quality NTs that's for sure...can't wait for JoN to hit the road.

If a kid from Bishop Gorman can come in and almost do as well as any of the NTs we have now, there's no doubt in my mind that this Vita cat can do a lot better than what we have now...

Jonathan Allen and Vita Vea are two entirely different players.

Jonathan Allen is a game wrecker. Think more along the lines of Aaron Donald, but bigger. I would have absolutely been all over Allen if we didn't draft Buckner last year.

Vita Vea is a plugger. He's a classic anchor in the middle. However, Jim O'Neil doesn't even use a 2-gapping 0technique nose tackle. I see Purcell and Dial being asked to attack more gaps than to hold the point of attack.

i wouldn't worry about Jim O'Neill's scheme. If the d keeps playing like this he won't be around next year.

NFL Media draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah compared Alabama senior DL Jonathan Allen to Ndamukong Suh.

Actually, Jeremiah offered a slight endorsement of at least one area where Allen might have Suh beat, writing on Twitter that the 6-foot-3, 291-pound beast of a lineman "looks like a quicker Suh on tape," going on to call him a "one-man wrecking machine." Through eight games played, Allen has registered 35 tackles (6.5 for loss) and six sacks. He also scored a touchdown via a scoop/score fumble recovery in the third quarter of Saturday's win over Texas A&M.
His height is a major concern playing NT.

If Jim keeps playing this kinda D, we won't have any more guys healthy enough to play defense.

Although I would absolutely love for the 49ers to draft a NT like Vea, I think JoN needs more stop gap veterans in his defense. It just seems like JoN isn't developing Buckner and Armstead right, and I'd hate to see JoN destroy another rookies confidence with his crap defensive play calling. I think someone like Vince Wilfork as a stop gap would be better off in the defense if JoN is kept (I threw up in my mouth saying that).
Strong defensive tackle class coming out, Vita is 27th on CBS board now.
Imagine a DL of Vea at 6'5" and AA & Buckner at 6'7"

#Huskies DT Vita Vea - 6'5. 330+ and awesome movement skills. Haloti Ngata comps coming (Vine via @MoveTheSticks):

I wouldn't be upset with that...6-5 kinda tall for a NT though

I wouldn't want a NT as high as he is going to go

Almost all the top DT's in the draft are 6-3+.

6-5 is pretty tall man...I like him dont get me wrong ...don't want to spend a 2nd rd pick on a NT regardless, rather go to FA
